perhaps because we haven't seen it.

While I know that God is omniscient, I suppose it was to much to expect that the Godless are too. :-)
Steady on there Sandy, atheists, may not believe in a god but if you are a believer you will 'know' that they do have a god even if they don't believe in one. By using the word 'godless' you are implying that god doesn't exist. If there is one I'm sure he will help heal the bullet wound in your foot :-)
they might rule out the "need" for a god but this will not rule out the existence of one. What is the need for tortoises?
Question Author
I meant by 'Godless', as everyone who haunts R&S would well know, those who refuse to acknowledge his existence and don't let him play any part in their lives.
Question Author
Isn't there a sect that holds that the entire universe is supported on the carapaces of our thick skinned friends?
If god did not exist it would be necessary to invent him.
I'm pink, therefore I'm spam.
Sandy, If god wanted to play a part in my life,I don't think I coulkd prevent him, he is (allegedly)after all omnipotent as well as the other omnis.
How would anyone know what you mean Sandy ? only god could understand the workings of your mind. (In his capacity as the omniscient one)

True. God knows our hearts.
Luke 16:15
You could only know that if you are in fact god. Somehing you are not telling us perhaps?
I feel awe in my mind and heart when I look at the night skies and think of how vast the universe is. We do not and we cannot ever know what or who created it. I think whatever did has passed on to do other things and ignores our little planet. I am an atheist, I do not believe in God with a capital letter. That Something started it I do believe, but as I do not know what I don't think I will acknowledge that there is any great being who cares two hoots about what goes on here.

I do too starbuck, there are far too many lovely things in the Natural world that make me think that there is a Being of some kind. Not the invisible God of the Bibles. Nature can be cruel and so can man, we are fortunate to be part of the 'perfect' combination that makes up our planet. I don't suppose this will appease the Muslims though.
If the presence of lovely things suggests the existence of a creator then surely the presence of nasty ugly things cancels out the existence of a creator.
Sorry Sandy - I am not seeing what is so special about this story - it doesn't contain anything brand spanking new.All of the ideas mentioned in the article have been discussed for some time.

Plus which, I do not feel the need to evangelise :)

What am I missing? What about the article do you think "the godless" would make more of?
Not at all jomifl, Not everyone or everything is beautiful but each serve their place in the universe. There is ying and yang in all things.
So the presence of 'lovely things' doesn't require the existence of a creator.
The likelihood that God has existed forever is impossible because of the 'Big Bang'. There is no scientific proof of any of the bible's teachings whereas there is so for the Universe's creation since that event.
Naomi will be sorry she missed this.
