The Archbishop of Westminster has asked the Pope to strip Savile of his Papal Knighthood , which is pointless as it dies with his death but it could be removed from their rolls of Knights but what is the likelihood of the RC church of punishing anyone accused of sexual abuse.or any other abuse for that matter. ?

With an answer like that you have been hoisted by your own petard. Many things have changed, (and thank goodness for that), but perhaps slapping women for being disobedient is still okay in your book?
Good God, (that's the chappie I don't believe in), the country ewill be full of *** next! We better beware, women might get the vote one day!

methyl, //Surely there must be others out there who did exactly the same? //
Probably - but two wrongs don't make a right. Regardless of the money he raised for charity, what he did was wrong, and I really don't understand the mentality of anyone who would say //On balance I don't give a sh@t about his wandering hands // - because his victims do - as should every right thinking person.

"I hope to see a lot more of these revelations to balance the press-influenced misconception that people knew and did nothing which is b@llsh@t."
C'mon methyl, there's only so much a child in a care home can do when confronted with an establishment figure such as Jimmy Savile, even if they had the cojones to speak out in the first place. Your argument is disingenuous in the extreme.
Still, he was a good man in your book.

Doing good works, good deeds may outweigh certain trivial or venal sins, and could even perhaps be viewed as a kind of atonement. Maybe thats what SoVile thought in his head.
I do not think that applies in this case. Some of those abused were children, some disturbed or deprived children. Others just come into adulthood. And there is more than a suggestion that he used the perks of his good works - office/rooms at certain institutions, in furtherance of his own unhealthy fixations on selfish gratification, regardless of the damage he did.
It would be bad enough if it was just 1 or 2 individuals - but it appears he practiced such abuse on an industrial scale. I do not think his dignity or his memory should be spared in such a case.

@Duncer troll
Your turn to tell us about your personal experience of Sir Jimmy Saville.
Bear in mind that I only go on personal experience and do not trust the press.
Strange analogy - a troll is now someone who would dare express an opinion on somebody that you like? I don't trust the press either, but surely even you must admit that the rising mountain of evidence is becoming incontrovertible? His "good works" now seem like a smoke screen, not the actions of a devout Catholic. Glad you like him.
