Nearly every government or political power says they want Peace. But do they? More and more we read and hear of violence, genocide, war, rape and other atrocities taking place.

Some say it is down to religion - but even in those countries where there is no state religion there are still atrocities. So what is the answer?

Here a good one for you Proverbs 1:22-33

22 “How long will YOU inexperienced ones keep loving inexperience, and [how long] must YOU ridiculers desire for yourselves outright ridicule, and [how long] will YOU stupid ones keep hating knowledge? 23 Turn back at my reproof. Then to YOU I will cause my spirit to bubble forth; I will make my words known to YOU. 24 Because I have called out but YOU keep refusing, I have stretched out my hand but there is no one paying attention, 25 and YOU keep neglecting all my counsel, and my reproof YOU have not accepted, 26 I also, for my part, shall laugh at YOUR own disaster, I shall mock when what YOU dread comes, 27 when what YOU dread comes just like a storm, and YOUR own disaster gets here just like a storm wind, when distress and hard times come upon YOU. 28 At that time they will keep calling me, but I shall not answer; they will keep looking for me, but they will not find me, 29 for the reason that they hated knowledge, and the fear of Jehovah they did not choose. 30 They did not consent to my counsel; they disrespected all my reproof. 31 So they will eat from the fruitage of their way, and they will be glutted with their own counsels. 32 For the renegading of the inexperienced ones is what will kill them, and the easygoingness of the stupid is what will destroy them. 33 As for the one listening to me, he will reside in security and be undisturbed from dread of calamity.
Yep- when the deluded lose their equanimity the mask slips, and we see the vindictiveness displayed for all to see.

No evidence of a loving or caring god in that last spittle flecked piece of invective is there? Just the threats of a jealous god, desperate to wipe out any challenge to a free and inquiring mind that might decide that god is not so great after all......
If that how you see it, poor you.
No. If thats how you react when your delusions are challenged, poor you - and those around you.
Goodlife, //I also, for my part, shall laugh at YOUR own disaster, I shall mock when what YOU dread comes,//

There speaks the loving, beneficent God!! How delightful! Do you honestly think that hate-filled, spiteful bile is praiseworthy?

Quod erat demonstrandum. My copy of the Authorised Version of the Bible expresses it in slightly different words. Of course, when Holy Scripture deviates from the perverse doctrines of the JWs they conveniently cite mistranslation or spurious additions, quoting Biblical scholars! The leadership of the JW movement can lay claim to may things, fraud and duplicity to mention but two, but what they cannot claim is true scholarship.
//My copy of the Authorised Version of the Bible expresses it in slightly different words.//

The sentiment is the same though.

As always you know very little about Jehovahs Witnesses. What you do know is based on falsehood. We do have a site where you can check it out for yourself but you would rather believe lies than learn the truth.

I don't want to, thank you. I've no interest in the JWs. Each to their own.
Goodlife, how about answering my question? Do you honestly think that hate-filled, spiteful bile is praiseworthy?
A mother in the supermarket slipped an item into her bag without paying for it. At the same time her husband across the street dropped a disc into a parking meter, where it registered as a pound. Their daughter that day got off work early after lying about being sick. What do you think of acts such as these? Do you view them as clever or do you hate them?

God commands: “O you lovers of Jehovah, hate what is bad.” So hate is only the bad things people do, not people themselves.

This is what getting a correct understanding of what the scriptures mean. Looking not just at the words, but the meaning. When you do that you can appreciate the Bible far more
Goodlife, more inane prattle. What's wrong? Can't you find an answer to my question to copy and paste?
"As always you know very little about Jehovahs Witnesses. What you do know is based on falsehood."
The little I know is what you've told us.
I think I will believe someone like Plautus when they make comments about JW over someone like you whose worldview is utterly skewed and compromised by your fanaticism about your church.

You are incapable of rendering any kind of objective commentary about JW goodlife. You continue in your attempts to evangelise, attempting to spread the taint of your cult further, with trite little homilies and a numbered verse from the big book of myths.

These posts do not even have the value of being original work; They are further examples of lazy mindlessness, unattributed cut and paste regurgitation from Watchtower or similar.

You rarely take the trouble to properly engage with criticism, preferring the tactic of obfuscation with further cut and paste posts - and when you finally do engage in a response, the vindictiveness of the god you blindly serve becomes clear for all to see.

Modeller:// keyplus You can not speak or assume to speak for God therefore you do not know his principles.//

But you can. Regardless of your thought that the Bible are words of man – a scripture that comes to mind is the one where it says, “all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, correction, for instruction in righteousness. “ Yes man has written but his inspiration comes from God. So we can know or at least, find out, what God’s principles are.

Beso:// The facts are that the people of countries like Norway, Sweden and Denmark are measured among the happiest on the planet. They are also among the least religious.//
That is not what my research shows me.

Lazygun: Take a look at this
http://melissag.hubpa...and-spiritual-poverty

One thing I have noticed in your posts Lazygun is your vindictiveness. What incites you to write such drivel and insults against Goodlife and Keyplus?

Obviously you don’t believe in God but does that give you the right to attack those who do? No wonder the world is in such a state with people like you around. I would hate to make an enemy of you, from what I read of your posts you would be one of the very first to attack someone who’s views differ from your own.

There is a difference in having an alternative opinion and being downright aggressive which is what you appear to be.

Perhaps you could enlighten me here, I have looked and can’t find anything.

To return to my original post.

Will non violence ever be a World reality?

What is true peace?
True peace means peace every day, living each day without having to worry about your future, your children’s future, even your grandchildren’s future. It means complete peace of mind. It means no more crime, no more violence, no more families torn apart, no more homeless people, no more people starving or freezing, and no more despair and frustration.

Each day we wake up to news of a disaster in one place or another. Severe floods or droughts etc in places previously unheard of.

Regardless of man’s scientific advances there is no solution to the starving millions in various lands. People still live in poverty, millions have no homes. You would have thought that after all the decades of scientific and technological advances man would have solved some, if not all of these problems.

Why is it that a privileged few can live in luxury, and yet millions live in slums and have to scavenge on garbage dumps just to get a crust of bread?

Is this what the future holds or is there something better?

For myself, I would like to think that there is something better. If not for me, at least for those who are deserving of a better life.
@Bataxia.

I make no apology for either the tone or the content of comments and posts, especially wrt to Keyplus or Goodlife. I leave it to others to judge whether my posts are unduly vitriolic or aggressive, and I will leave it to others to pass judgement on the value of the content. You are free to form an express an opinion on what I write - as I am of the blather that the faithheads espouse.

If you wish to evangelise, put your beliefs into the public domain, attempt to influence others to follow your cause, prepare to have those views critically challenged. If you continue to cut and paste unattributed screed from a cult, prepare to have the nonsense it contains challenged.

If you refuse to engage with the criticism preferring instead to offer more cut and paste homilies, expect rebuttal.

If you continue to assert as fact - like you do when you assert that the bible is wisdom from god - what can clearly only be an opinion, expect that to be derided too.

When posters whine and attempt to claim special privileges for religious
thought or behaviour, expect mockery.

When you get posters like Keyplus who defend the indefensible carried out in his religions name, expect disgust. When other religious apologists jump in, advocating a policy of appeasement, they should expect rejection too.

There can be no doubt that the zealots of religion exert undue influence on society as a whole. There can be no doubt that for many of those, the first resort in defence of their fundamentalism is to create terror and mayhem. The fanatics from all religions create misery everywhere, and then demand that we respect their religious rights and views. I will do what I can to point out the absurdity and danger of the deluded.

And given the massive material imbalances, the extreme material poverty in which a significant proportion of the human population live in - a poverty of food, of clean water, of clothing and shelter, of education, of opportunity - to suggest that spiritual poverty is a greater threat is frankly a ludicrous position, and one that only those who are materially affluent can engage in.
You post this, for instance -

"

But science and progress do far far more to address these issues than religion ever could. Such efforts continue and will continue, and to judge such measures and find them wanting after just a few decades - an eyeblink in human history-is just stupid.

What we do not do is witter on about spiritual poverty in these circumstances - we focus on material poverty and how we can help- vaccinations for children in africa, aid programmes, clean water programmes - all to help their material poverty. Education programmes, trade, technology exchanges.

Perhaps religion could focus more on charitable initiatives to feed, rather than banning the use of condoms, as an example.
Yes,The world is in such distress and turmoil. There are lots of people who are hoping for intelligent beings from another planet to come and teach us how to live. What nonsense! For we have them right here with us, but people know nothing about them and are inclined to condemn and persecute. They are dedicated servants of God and imitators of Christ. They are the ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses’ . . . I am humbly grateful that I was given the privilege of meeting these true Christians.
