Are You A Good Person?
264 Answers
If there is a Heaven, do you think you are good enough to go there? To answer this question, try taking this test to see if you are a good person: (I know that I'm not.)
1. Have you ever told a lie?("white" lies are still lies.) What do you call someone who tells lies and are you one?
2. Have you ever stolen anything? (Even when you were a kid.) What do you call someone who steals and are you one?
3. Have you ever looked someone with lust? Jesus said, "Whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)
4. Have you ever you used God's name to curse? That's called blasphemy. "The Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name." (Exodus 20:7)
This is only four of the ten commandments. So IF God were to judge you based on the ten commandments, would you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? If you have failed any or all of these commandments, than you are not a good person by God's standard.
Now the common response is: "Okay, so I'm not perfect." or "I haven't killed anybody."
But remember the standard is God's perfect law, not other people. God only considers good to be moral perfection! Which none of us are and therefore the whole world is guilty before him!
*The Bad News: We all have sinned (violated God's law: such as lying, stealing, and so on.) and fall short to the glory of God (Romans 3:23). God can not tolerate sin and will punish for it because of his holiness and justice (Isaiah 13:11). Which means that there is no one who is good, but God alone, and the wages of sin is death(Hell). (Romans 3:10-18, Romans 6:23)
Don't worry there is hope!
*The Good News: The good news is that God loved us so much that he sent his son to take the punishment for our sins, so who that whoever believes in him should not go to hell but have everlasting life (John 3:16, with emphasis). All you need to is repent from your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ. The moment you do that you will be forgiven from your sins and know and will be granted everlasting life into heaven. (Romans 10:13)
Now, the final question is: Will you place your faith/trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent from your sins today and accept the free gift of eternal life?

Because most of them believe that baptism washes away sins and therefore it should be as early as possible in order to begin the process of "santification". Most religions teach that must do "good" works in order to be saved, but that is not the case. Only Jesus Christ, who is God, can cleanse us of our sins.
I've asked to be redunked in a font full of Whisky...does that make me a bad person.....;0)
I don't want to offend anyone but to be honest I find it offensive when someone tries to imply that anyone not following their beliefs is a bad person. While religion is a good thing for some it's not for everyone and people should be left to decide their own views. we are all individuals and I personally assume each of us have enough brain cells to make our own decisions about religion.

The reason I used GotQuestions.org is because they do a better job in answer these types of questions.
@AnswerPrancer: Since I believe that scripture, God's word, is priority; then I will use it, If you want my view on it. So, since God never condones any sort of lies, all lies (regardless of justification) is still sin. Now in those instances of the Nazis, it is definitely very difficult to answer. Do you lie in order to prevent a more horrific evil from happening or do you tell the truth and allow the death of Jews? In such cases, it might be acceptable, but remember God never approves any lies in any cases, regardless of the situation.

Evan-ed: Your attempts at spreading the word are failing miserably becasue you obviously don't know your subject matter. I can randomly go to half a dozen websites that give me enough biblical quotes to allow me to conduct a half decent arguement on a forum like this.
For instance - Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Seems particularly relevant to this thread, you get 10 minutes to tell me where it's from, google should take you only a couple!!
What this quote tells me is that forcing the message is a corruption on it's own, it's disrespectful to enforce an opinion on someone else which funnily enough is what your trying to do now..
PS I didn't use the internet to pick that little gem out =0)

@Evan-Ed - People will respect your answers more if you provide attribution for your posts.Continue to cut and paste without attribution and you will very quickly alienate a lot of people here.
If you feel that a site offers an answer better that you yourself can put together, then offer a short precis in your own words, together with a link to the original article. To do otherwise, to cut and paste without attribution, is intellectually dishonest, and deprives the original author of the credit.
All of us here are intelligent enough to follow a link, and most would rather do that than have you regurgitating screeds of text, possibly out of context and without indication of bias etc.
The title of your post is just wrong. It is not down to you or some unevidenced god who gets to decide who is "good" or "bad": The only people for whom such a set of questions, and gods supposed judgement is even remotely relevant is for faithheads.
The idea of "original sin" is just plain disgusting. Its obviously designed to prey on the guilt of the believers. Any religion that believes in original sin is worthy only of contempt.
The same could be said of any god that merits white lies clearly used to mitigate pain in others as a sin; contemptible.
The idea that our morality or ethical framework is derived from religion is just laughable.
I know that faithheads like to create a false equivalence by arguing that Atheism is a religion, but thats just nonsense. Atheism is a lack of belief in a deity.
Your attempt to categorise atheism as a religion is nearly as bad as your attempt to recategorise what scientists and biologists actually have to say about evolution....
