Jeremiah 10-23 Says Lord, I know that our lives do not belong to us.
We have no control over what happens.

History proves that people don't learn from history
Goodlife, you don't want answers to questions and you don't want discussion - you only want to preach.
History is often written by the victor
A web of deceit woven by the writer
To glorify the deeds of his master
And decry the good deeds of the loser:

His name is vilified
His good deeds set aside
His just cause demonised
Only the winner is glorified

History is father and mother of lies
Fabrications the writer describes
Leaving us an account after his demise,
A legacy that hopefully fools and survives

The passage of time testifies to its credibility
Self-interest confers on it the seal of authenticity
It is then paraded as the voice of truth and sanity
But we all know it is mostly hot air and vanity.

History has proved that give some people an inch and they'll take a mile.....
sandyRoe, sounds like one or two religious books I could mention.
History proves many things, notably that what applies in one situation may not in a similar one. And that there is none so blind as those convinced they already see.
Very recent history has proved that goodlife can't string 5 words together sensibly.
"Lord, I know that our lives do not belong to us.
We have no control over what happens."

That's good to know - so I can't really be blamed for my sins then.
that history repeats itself, but no one ever learns from it. If they did there would be no more wars.
If you are saying that we do not have free will, are you also saying that people have no choice about their lives ? No choice about whom they marry, how many children they have, where they live, what books they read, how many websites they visit every day ?
I have free will, so I choose to go off and have lunch right now.
No, God has already planned your lunch atlanta ;-)
We have no control over what happens

locusts not quite right

you missed out two important ingredient
when you use Jeremiah 10 23

the creator has given us freedom--
will of mine to do what this is important for us

so we have a measure of freedom

there are rules and regulations to be followed and the creator has his rules

and regulations just like rules of the country to be followed

when Adam broke the rules he was punished/ and because of that punishment sin /as we know IT entered / people off world

If we follow the regulations and what he (GOD)purposes
then we have a prospect of everlasting life in this world and the next

following these regulations also shows are love for him ( GOD)and the love covers //sins

I don't know if this is what you're looking for an answer
//Jeremiah 10-23 Says Lord, I know that our lives do not belong to us.
We have no control over what happens.//

The song "puppet on a string" comes to mind.
we can be taken from the wild, but the wild cannot be removed from us
did you slip up there goodlife and forget to sign out as locusts before posting a reply

haha
Locusts, please stop aligning God with love. God doesn't love you - he intimidates you - and you don't love God - you are terrified of him.
One thing that history demonstrates is that there'll always be religious nutters posting crap on the Internet.
Many I think would disagree with the notion that individuals have no control over their lives. Many do, on a day to day basis exhibit a lot of control over their lives, holding down a job, raising a family, interacting with friends.

Of course, no amount of control can insulate you entirely from the effects of random chance - that has nothing to do with god though.

And of course, only if you believe in a creator can you possibly even begin to imagine that somehow you are beholden to one.....

well said naomi - many religious zealots seem to forget that following god etc because you are too scared not to is not the same as loving god becsause you really love him.

it is like having a partner, who doesnt love you or even like you, and is scared of you - but they stay with you and obey you because you will strike them down with vengeance and furious anger, and make their life hell forever if they dont - that is not love, you have not 'won', and they would leave you in a shot if they could ... that is not REAL LOVE - it is FEAR and ENTRAPMENT

That is how god works ... A sad bully who cannot get anyone to like him unless he threatens them
goodlife, why was locusts answering for you at 13:28?
