Fact is that 2 or 3 thousand years ago the Middle East was much like India is now with lots of competeing holy men wandering about with lots of competing claims about them.
This is why there's no or little contemporary evidence about Jesus - at the time he was nothing special.
To even start to be taken seriously you had to heal people and raise the dead.

1. Elijah raised the son of the Zarephath widow from the dead (1 Kings 17:17-22).
2. Elisha raised the son of the Shunammite woman from the dead (2 Kings 4:32-35).
There's even someone in Nigeria on youtube being raised from the dead

Mourning and grief over the loss of a loved one, or a respected or loved member of the community is not unnatural - Quite a moving documentary recently showed the obvious grief of a mother elephant on losing its daughter, for instance. Its part of the natural process of closure, of moving on. For some, it might be a comfort that the will meet with loved ones again, but in the absence of any plausible corroborating evidence supporting such a notion, is can be best described as a white lie, and to construct an edifice of belief in which an immortal soul or resurrection is a cornerstone is both absurd, and sad.

What makes anyone think God has said anything in any Word ? One has only the ancient writing of past believers to go on, and the enthusiasm of present ones. I don't recall putting in an appearance anywhere I was, let alone holding a conversation. if there is a God they keep well out of it, it seems.

If jesus was raised as a spirit, (not flesh and bones) then how come after his (spirit) resurection Thomas was able to touch his wounds? How was this spirit able to eat and drink? Funny thing for a spirit to do.

I would even go further and say that if your pretend friend decided to show up tomorrow and started performing miracles all over the world to prove himself, I would still not worship him. For all that I have read of him leads me to believe that he is indeed a jealous and vindictive God who condemns millions upon millions of people to eternal torment for being born in the wrong part of the world. My opinion is that if you believe and accept that that is OK then you are lacking in true compassion.

That's right naomi, I was hands over eyes fingers in ears for most of my life until experienced healing that could not have come from anywhere else but a Supreme Being.
My belief is not based purely on the Bible but on what I have experienced since becoming a Christian.

Instead of spending your days knocking down this world and just waiting for Jehovah to bring on judgement day, you might be better off helping some non-JWs in their daily lives. Sorry, but that's just my opinion.
