I do, i think there is a team that keeps an eye out and if it's a near miss we're only told when it's safe and is definitely going to miss us but then this leaves the other side of the coin.

Just when will they tell us when there is a 100% chance of a "End of life" asteroid hitting us?

When it's a year, month, week, hours away?

Is this fair that the scientists and those in high powers will get a better chance at being on the other side of the earth during impact or more time to see and say goodbye to their loved ones where these rest of us might get a few hours if we're lucky?

Zacsmaster, quite a lot actually as this would be the "day of judgement" that many religions believe is coming.

Seadogg, do you think the goverment hide the truth from us? Would they possibly not even tell us if the end of the world was inevitable in order to not cause world mayhem and to spare us any fear?

If this was happening i would want to know as it is our human right but it's really down the puppetmasters who pull the strings.

Here's a thought. Go to University - Study hard for years and become a scientist and then maybe you'll know before us.
You would tell us though wouldn't you?

If this chunk of rock was the coup de grace I reckon somebody with the necessary kit would spot it and publish. Remember that there are many independent astronomers out there.

So who are you going to sue... and more to the point, if an asteroid is going to hit the earth, when are you going to court?

If you are told about it weeks in advance you spend weeks in a panic running around in circles screaming. If you spot it hours before it hits then you only spend that time in stark terror. Unless one is wanting time to go purchase a quick acting poison, it seems to me the (human) right is not to be told and the responsibilty of those in the know is to keep quiet.

There are indeed scientists scanning space all the time to look out for things crashing into us, so they can zap them before they get near us. It's no secret, they were talking about it on the telly the night the last asteroid went past us.
