I thought that world existed pretty much for the last, ooh, 2000 years or so? Christians were mocked when they first started (hence, for that matter, the word "Christian") and "false" religions taught all over the place for ages.

No - there are some signs ( symeia - pun - geddit?) that the initial thoughts were that the end of days were near (near AD 35 that is) by which I means some of the NT has a millenial intent.
Well, that didnt happen and so a Council was called to decide various things such as the way things would go in the future (Council of Jerusalem, c AD 50) as mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles.

I am however not sure that the NT is about foretelling the future - on Earth. In Heaven as all of us kno, there is no time. Hence Bibblebubz answer is eerily for a damned atheist - near the point.....

My stab since it is Sunday (almost oops) at the NT Gk for "God dishonouring world" is cosmos theou atimeos - and I have to say that that doesnt occur anywhere in the NT does it ? Give reference and I will read - or for a near miss.


NT as a book that foretells - you're not really gonna say that buried somewhere in it is the prime minister's home phone number in 2017 - are you ? and if the asnwer is no - then the NT must have another function other than as a millenial Moore's almanack

What about Luke, ch 9, v27 ?
" But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. " That prediction from the mouth of your christ is almost 2 millennia late being fulfilled. And everyone listening to that prophecy is long, long dead - in spite of those words.
By the way, aren't you getting tired of putting up straw men in order to get silly responses which you can then knock down with ease and contempt ?
Putting up irrelevant arguments like these is often a sign of someone beginning to have doubts, who is trying to reassure himself that there really are good arguments for the old beliefs.
But take off your blinkers and do some clear, reasoned thinking for a change.

I was looking on the web to see how many Christian denominations there are. The answer was about 41,300 and two false one JWs and Mormons
because they fail to adhere to the scripture .
