If any would the discovery of intelligent life on another planet in our Solar System have on religion on this planet?

Sandy and Khandro's contribution s confirm what others have said above. It wouldn't change anything. The discovery would just be used as affirmation that there is a god. Scripture would be quoted to indicate that god has been telling us about this all along, but we hadn't necessarily seen it. If the aliens were edible, we'd probably eat them. Scripture would...

Khandro - //if the inhabitants had a religion it would be an acknowledgement of that same power//
I love the way you take hold of logic and beat the life out of it.
Were the "Cargo Cults" an acknowledgement of that same power. No they were the invention of primitive minds attempting to explain strange and frightening things they hadn't encountered before.
Pretty much how I imagine all religions started in the first place.

probably none.
they will just twist it round to suit their believe that its all part of gods plan and god works in mysterious ways etc.
they will claim that as god invented the universe he must have invented them too ... that its just like a rare and unusual undiscovered animal in some remote area of the planet that we don't know about yet.
they will also probably manage to twist some parts of the bible round to accommodate it

Khandro.
/Then why does that tiny proportion concern you so much, are you really a closet bully? /
You do draw some amazing conclusions from little or no information. I am however beginning to understand that you use a kind of lateral logic rather than serial logic which explains why you come out with such irrelevant comments. I would be interested to see how you came up with the one above. Did you go to a public school to get your experience of bullies and closets.

Ha ha! Me too! And the way he consistently fails to address any query engendered by his wonky comments. See my post at 08:24 this morning."
Or indeed, the question you and I put to him in this thread:

Yes Jim I hadn't noticed because I seldom expect an answer at all from Khandro, let alone one that makes any sense.
I would compare his style to that of a drive by shooting. He comes along and throws in a random statement, never answering the OP, and then disappears for an hour or two.
When he does come back he'll see what damage has been done to the thread i.e. has it gone off topic. If it hasn't he'll throw in a fresh comment and repeat ad nauseum.

jim; I take it you are referring to your post on that thread; //but if the cup was a sign that God made it, then that would be an example of God being knowable// I'm surprised that you cannot see the flaw in your own logic. I did not state that the cup was made by God, the cup was an example of an object of your 'knowing' but of which you did not know the creator.
jomifl; //You do draw some amazing conclusions from little or no information.// The person with little information is you; The World's population is circa 7 billion, and of that number Christians alone account more than 2 billion.
