if you mean 'true joy' - as in the rather unnerving and demented looking wide eyed delirious expression that the overly religious often wear, because they are so utterly brainwashed that nothing else works in their head, then that's a 'joy' i'd rather not have...
For reasons I am unable to explain to myself Goodlife's last two posts reminded me of this famous passage:
"What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how
infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and
admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like
a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals—and yet,
to me, what is this quintessence of dust?".
I was told by a church going theist that he believed in God but not a word that is written in the bible.
I can understand that, as much of the bible can be subjected to analysis
whereas the concept of God the creator is emotional.
Most people would understand what we mean when discussing scientific intelligence but how about emotional intelligence ?
I wonder where the arts come into the picture ? Music, Literature,
Creative art and design etc. Are these people more or less religious. ?
Brenden gave himself away when after rabbitting on with hundreds of words when he said // Okay, big deal, you don’t believe in God, well done. But what do you believe in?//
It's always the last resort of theists.
They can't understand that you can believe in the whole world of reallity as opposed to their tiny narrow concept of religion.
