What Is Heaven Like?

I'm genuinely interested in your thoughts on what heaven will be like when you get there.
I have asked many people this question and have received many different answers but the one thing I've noticed is that all the answers are vague to say the least.
The bible has very little to say on the subject which surprises me because I assume that it is the ultimate reward for your lifetime of service to your creator.
What do you think?

I was brought up a Catholic in the 1950's and I can remember a Nun at my school telling me that Heaven was a place where you could do whatever you best liked doing. She asked me what my favourite food was and I told that my Mum's Apple Pie was really delicious, especially if it came with custard.
Well, she said, you can eat Apple Pie with Custard all day, every day when you go to Heaven. Ever since, whenever I smell Apple Pie being cooked I have a vision of the pearly gates, with St Peter holding a large pie. and a jug of custard.
Of course, I am not a believer any more these days but Apple Pie would seem to be as good a reason to get 8 year old boys to behave themselves as any other method.

Did you not read God said nothing to Adam about going to heaven. So the earth was not to be a proving ground where people would be tested to see if they were fit for heaven.
Man was created to live forever on earth, And that is God purpose, and will yet to be fulfilled.
The Bible promises that “the righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.” (Psalm 37:29)
Yet some people think that it is impossible to know about heaven because no one has ever come down from there to tell us about it.
Perhaps you have forgotten that Jesus did. (John 8:23)

It's puzzling to me why theists don't have more curiosity about the supposed benefits of an eternal afterlife. It seems that you can't reconcile free will with paradise.
You end up as a mindless zombie with no memory of your life on earth so no regrets about loved ones going to hell.
It sort of takes the shine off a lifetimes effort to be moral and good and worship your creator if you are stripped of all the traits and memories that makes you who you are.
One of the biggest selling points of heaven has been the "You will meet all your departed loved ones" theme.
Not much point if you don't even remember them.
What about meeting people you didn't like on earth?

GL What about the 144,000 "anointed" who would be transferred at death to live in heaven to rule over earth with Christ. The rest of the "saved" will have to make do with the Earth brought back to paradise and live for eternity praising the Lord, Jehovah.
