Richard Lock sounds remarkably like the vicar! Same actor?
sorry, wrong thread!
Years ago we used to have bear bating in this country.

Also sometimes monkeys were tied to dogs backs and sent into a pen with a bear in it see what happened.

Many people went to see this including Elizabeth the 1st.

While we have "grown up" as a country not all have and we cant judge other countries by our modern day standards.
Sorry VHG, I strongly disgree.

We could say we shouldn't meddle in the way they treat their fellow humans- but we do, don't we?
VHG, how on earth can you compare this with anything? These 'people' are scum and should be wiped from the planet. Partial throat cutting of goats so they die of blood loss is bad enough, but this is unbelievable. The more I learn about Islam, the more I come to hate it.

Why can't we?

Unfortunately, we usually find that people rarely have any more respect for animals (or each other for that matter) than they have for themselves. Given the track record of the particular god one chooses to worship as prescribed by ones chosen religion it is hard to imagine where one is to acquire the self-respect that demands of oneself that they treat others any better than they do.
