Try thinking of Christianity without the cross and the resurrection. Just doesn't seem the same, does it. Christ had to become the lamb of the passover sacrifice on the very day of the passover, or the powerful imagery would have been lost. So there had to be some agent who told the priests where and when Christ could be taken. That had to be the odd-man-out, Judas. If you read your gospels it is clear that Christ needed other secret deals which Judas organised, such as the booking of the Upper Room. Judas was the treasurer among the disciples, " he held the bag", as the gospels say. Christ's words to Judas at the last supper - " do what you have to do" are the signal for the handover. Not treachery - just a simple prearranged handover. So you see - Judas was framed.

You can believe the Bible or some who does not believe the Bible
The Jewish religious leaders of Jesus day who opposed Jesus did commit willful, and thus unforgivable, sin.

They sinned with their eyes wide open to the undeniable operation of God’s spirit. Thus, they committed unforgivable sin, for Jesus said: “Whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come.”—Matthew 12:22-32.

So of Judas Iscariot is also unforgivable. His betrayal of Jesus was the willful, deliberate culmination of a course of hypocrisy and dishonesty.

The apostle John added: Judas said this, though, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief and had the money box and used to carry off the monies put in it.” Soon thereafter, Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. (John 12:1-6; )

True, Judas felt remorse and committed suicide. (Matthew 27:1-5) But he was not forgiven, since his deliberate, persistently selfish course and his treacherous act reflected his sin against the holy spirit.
That why Jesus said: 21 For the Son of man is going away, just as it is written about him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.-Mark 14:21.

Alright, goodlife, what would have happened if it had not been for Judas ? No crucifixion, no powerfully symbolic cross, no resurrection ? No Golgotha, no empty tomb ? Nothing would have happened on the passover, no human sacrifice would have been made to save mankind ? Jesus would have lived on - doing what, exactly ? The same as numerous other prophets were going around at the same time, all of whom have now vanished from memory ?

We are told that it was God's will that Jesus died to save us. Therefore it must have been God's will that Judas "betrayed" Jesus. Logically (not that there is any logic to Christianity), he should be canonized.

As recorded at Genesis 3:15, Jehovah said: “I shall put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel.”

That prophecy is a key to understanding the entire Bible as well as past and present events involving both the world and Jehovah’s servants.

No, its not simple. My own deconversion from religion came about precisely BECAUSE I read the bible from cover to cover, not because I didnt.
You'll find many here on R&S that are in fact very conversant with the bible.
