Us Atheists appear to be in the ascendance. Anybody surprised by this ?
I think that more people are turning away from religion because we are much brighter than we used to be. Although there will always be those indoctrinated into a religion or need it for the feel good factor it is supposed to give but there is a growing band that think for themselves and modern life has made us more synicel about all forms of authority. Literature...
Then there is the word....The O logy...surely thats the energy and vital force in all our Circles of life?...isn't this a Spiritual theme ??...as to understand quantum physics???& the basic need to learn how we are wired to live and care for each other..??
Talking of habits......I was taught by a series of Nuns, up until I went to my Secondary Modern School, at age 11. I have been an atheist since I was in my late teens but if I see a Nun rattling a collecting tin at Xmas, I find myself averting my gaze, and reaching into my pocket for a coin or two entirely automatically !
I also still have the memories of being hit over the knuckles by Nuns, when I got something wrong at school !
