Surely this would be beneficial as the dead would be able to confirm what is on the other side and whether a god exists.

Have any of you used a ouija board or some other way to contact the spirit world or know anyone that has? What was the outcome as I have friends who believe you should not mess with one as you may unleash someone from the spirit world.

What do you think and if you haven't used one then why not give it a go and post the realist here.

I've never used a weedgie board, they creep me out a bit!
I think it is absolute bull locks.

So do you believe in the spirit world Answerprancer?

Talbot, have you used one before?
Yes I have
I'm not really into religion but I accept that I have some sort of 'primal' thing going on, you could call it spirituality I suppose.
Christianity is against ouija boards, mediums, speaking to spirits in general.

It is mostly impressionable young girls who have a fascination with the ouija board and their imagination can cause a few to have psychological problems, or existing problems to surface.

Properly? Could you explain your seance? The mood, whether you were all believers, drunk, high or clear minded and your age and setting at the time please?

Sorry that was to Talbot
Auntie of one of the mates did it. I was 20-ish.
She did the usual ''is there anybody there'' then pushed the glass to spell a name, oops sorry she never pushed the glass ... it sort of hovered.

Strangely it convinced a couple of the mates even though I told them that on one of the names it was actually me dictating where it wen... hovered to.

Well if you were cheating and having a laugh and not "Opening your mind, body and your soul" it was bound to failure Talbot.

I'm intrigued hc4361, where does it say this in the Bible or more to the point why would they say not to contact the spirit world? I think I can remember a muslim friend saying the same about the Quran.

The mysterious question is WHY......
I let her do her stuff beforehand but got bored.

It was bound to fail because it is nonsense.
I don't believe that the Spiritualist church has anything against it.

Yes, I've used such a board on a number of occasions.

The outcome varied from unconvincing to very convincing.

Folk with a mental weakness ought to stay away as no one knows what they may end up fearing for no real reason other than their own phobias. Folk with a healthy mental state should investigate with an open mind.

Unleased indeed ! So normally spirits are all leashed up waiting to slip the collar ? It's a bit like saying one ought never leave the house one is born in, just in case one meets someone who isn't nice one day.
I can assure you that I initially turned off my mind, relaxed and floated down stream, laid down all thoughts and surrendered to the void ... It wasn't shining, it wasn't shining

So it appears it works for some and not for others 66 Talbot.

Oldgeezer can you explain the times where it was convincing? Were there any voices, sounds or just spelt names or warnings?
I witnessed a ouija 'seance' many years ago, the results were obviously influenced by one of the participants, who happened to be a person with an egocentric and psychotic personality. It may be bowlokks but ouija boards give a lot of insight into the personalities participating.

I've heard of instances where the cup moves by itself before hurling itself at a wall.

How would you explain that?
I wouldn't even bother to try unless I had seen it myself.
It wasn't ever a materialisation or audible phenomena. It's spelling out words using a glass or planchette.

Most convincing is when unlikely information is given that no one knows of, which later turns out to be correct. Despite my first sentence most convincing was when the board spelt out they were bringing a particular flower and a fragrance filled the area that only some of the family were aware of.

Oldgeezer isn't that convincing enough that there are dark supernatural powers afoot?

Also whats so special about the ouija board? Is it made from a special cursed or blessed wood? Is there any other mediums one could use?
