Brainwashing ?
Speaking personally, it is the sanctimonious superior attitude evidenced by a seriously large number of believers, that they have something the non-believer does not have, and the believer sympathises in an odious fashion, inferring that it is only a matter of time before the non-believer stops being ignorant and 'sees the light'.

I would never try and dissuade a believer from their beliefs, I appreciate the same courtesy being extended.

Copy and Pasters who have no opinion of their own to offer.

The purpose of my being on this site is not to force or make one convert. That is not the criteria. I have a wonderful hope for the future and as most people like to share good things, that is what I am doing.

This is one reason why I quote a lot of scripture, it is not what I say, but what the God of the Bible says.

Okay, maybe I do copy & paste, but at the end of the day it is what I agree with and many would not know the Bible otherwise. It is only what Jesus himself did. Many times he would state, "it is written", and that is what I am saying, "it is written".
Matthew 4 v 4.
Matthew 24 v 14.
goodlife - //Many times he would state, "it is written", //

So is a list of my CD's - but I wouldn't use it as the basis for my life philosophy.
goodlife - //I have a wonderful hope for the future and as most people like to share good things, that is what I am doing. //

I disagree.

What you are actually doing - as you usually do - is finding a scripture to align with your viewpoint - pasting it, and then wilfully ignoring the queries and questions that follow it.

I can count on one hand the number of times you responded directly to the dozens and dozens of posts I have placed on your threads, and eventually given up because it is clear you do not wish to back up your thoughts, only state them.

I can back up my non-faith any day any time, with anyone -as a committed Christian, I would expected at least the same level of commitment from you, but it has been almost entirely absent during the entire time you have posted on here.

You bear the animosity to receive for your lofty approach with the patience of your faith - it would vanish if you were less inclined to preach, and more inclined to debate and discuss.

But worship God ‘with truth’ would mean to follow a course in belief and practice of religion that is in harmony with the actual state of things, not contrary to them, not according to imagination or one’s own private philosophy. One would have to accept God as the God of truth, recognizing the Creator.
Copy and Pasters? They are both at it now.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about - which rather underlines my point.

Those who desire to use their reasoning ability will find that God has provided evidence plentifully to aid the reasoner to establish (1) that God exists and (2) that his primary attributes are love, justice, wisdom and power. The reasoner will also see by the nature of things that he is subject to a superior authority. First, he finds that the laws governing natural things cannot be broken with impunity. He discovers that there are also moral laws. Then he finds that he must be subject to some order of things. He cannot live absolutely independently. There has to be organization. In organization there has to be a superior. There has to be government. Thus every human must of necessity be in subjection to government.
I believe goodlife has lost the plot.
There, "it is written", so it must be true.
a-h , we are directly opposite and will no doubt always be so, however, as someone much greater than me once said," we may not agree but I will defend your right to speak it", or something along those lines.
goodlife - Absolutely none of what you have said there confirms that God exists.

Organisation is the default position of masses of species, of which Man is only one, but there are millions, probably billions more, who do not live in an organised way - how is God influencing them?

As I write, there is a jellyfish floating along in the Indian Ocean, utterly unencumbered by any sentiment thought whatsoever.

God has obviously had no involvement there - where are its 'rules' - where is its 'organisation'?

I have said times without number, that if a belief in God and heaven comforts you and makes your life easier, then go right on ahead - but do not assume that everyone else needs it as well, and that it is your mission to make them see what you believe you see.

It's not.
And; where is this evidence that a God(s) exists, that is compelling rather than flimsy ?
Where is the evidence about what characteristics such a God(s) might have ?

Natural laws has to exists or we won;t be here debating. It is no evidence of God(s)
Moral laws are clearly created by man as no evidence exists for other involvement.
There has to be order of nothing can live in real chaos.
There is no absolute need of government. It is an advantage to a nation or large group only.

Do you have anything else ?
...we won't be...
baza - //a-h , we are directly opposite and will no doubt always be so, however, as someone much greater than me once said," we may not agree but I will defend your right to speak it", or something along those lines. //

Voltaire I believe.

We may be opposite, and more power to us - but as I have stated many times, I do not need the notion of faith to make my life better, and I seriously resent the sanctimonious preaching by believers that I do.

If you and I can exist in perfect harmony on this site, then that is a lesson for believers everywhere - save your time and energy.
