I would ask please, if the following questions were answered, the best that you can, in the order that they are posted. Thanks.

1) God, has always been there, before anything else, God was there, so how long was he there in solitary before he decided to create the Universe and us?

2) Why did God create us, Humans?

jim, I assume because God was the only candidate available at the time. He wasn't to know about Big Bangs. (Indeed, I can, so to speak, remember a time before Big Bang, when Steady State was the thing.)
What banged please?
n. No I wasn't in A. I was here on the bank of the beautiful river Neckar.
I know why Aquinas said what he said. Just kind of wish he hadn't.

Attaching God to the first cause is linking two different concepts that shouldn't be linked, is all. Ah, well.
Just because our universe had a beginning doesn't mean that everything had a beginning. Humans can be arrogant and assume that everything was created with them in mind. Then again our cats are the same.
Khandro, it’s just that at a restaurant there was a rather handsome chap, very much like you, looking at me with what appeared to be some curious semblance of recognition. Not that you know me but for a moment there ….

Sorry for the diversion, Lonnie. Back to the subject.
n. // there was a rather handsome chap, very much like you,//
Has my cover been blown I wonder? :0)
Khandro, you posted a self-portrait, remember? I'm assuming you're a talented artist.

That can be arranged. ;o)
n. Then you now have my email.
Thanks. I'll let you know.

Hi Naomi, yes, good to see you on here, I can only pop.
every so often.
Jut like to say thanks to everyone for taking the time to give some thoughtful answers.

For me, if you believe in the God of the Old Testament, then as I said before, he made us, and put us here to praise and worship him, no other reason.

According to believers, God knows everything that is going to happen, but does nothing to stop stop it.
(a forgiving and merciful God?.).
Lonnie, //he made us, and put us here to praise and worship him, no other reason.//

That’s about it. A forgiving and merciful God? Forgiving for what? Merciful, no.

Lonnie, you sound sad. You know where I am if you want a listening ear. x

Khandro, your artistic talent leaves my daubing sadly wanting. I’m very impressed.
If it makes it easier, you could always take the John Lennon non-partisan approach; "I believe in God, not as an old man in the sky, I believe what the people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Buddha and all the rest said was right, it's just the translations have gone wrong".

naomi; How can you know that ^?
Khandro, I'll email you.
I suspect she found out the same way I did.
1) God, has always been there, before anything else,

Where did he Spring from?
A lamp like a gen ... no hang on there would be any lamps ... bet he was good at sudoku ... actually there wouldn't be any pens or paper would there.
Being God must be a crap job but I guess someone has to do it.
Jim, button it.
I'm assuming Khandro that you *don't* want your real-life name to be widely known?
:o/
