I've just been watching a pair of middle aged ladies knocking on doors on my street. Judging by the length of time they were at each door, I guessed they were Jovo's.
When they got to my house they looked in a notebook and passed by.
Is this something to do with the tirade they got from me some months ago? Or, am I beyond salvation?
I didn't think JWs knock on doors anymore. They tend to stand in the High Street looking hopeful, until my son goes up and starts a 'conversation' with them.
They knocked on my door once and the first thing they said was; "do you think suffering on earth will ever end?" - too easy - I said: " not whilst there is religion" - they never came back!
If they were true to their faith, you would be the one they should visit.
I had a couple at my door a few months ago, kept asking them questions they found difficult to answer. Eventually one of them said that was a most interesting conversion, can we return soon? I said yes but there's been no sign of them since, they really only enjoy talking to like minded people.
They still knock on doors. Their term for it is 'Publishing the Kingdom'. They have cards which they have to fill in and submit to the Elders to show how many visits they have made. As there is no real way of checking I would just make it up. Perhaps that's why they go around in pairs, so one can keep an eye on the other to make sure he/she is not skiving.
We have JWs targetting Catholics door to door. They know who we are because one of their number is a former Catholic and regular attendee at Mass. All a bit odd and would venture to say that few, if any, of us are likely to join their number.
The one thing I always ask JWs at the door '' If a member of my family needed a blood transfusion to save their life, would you be willing to help ?'' When they give their usual reply they are very smartly told to ***s Off.
Strange, Scooping. Normally they leave RCs well alone. As soon as you say you are RC they know they're on a loser. I was taught to say that I was RC even though I'm CE. A good idea is to have a statue of the BVM draped with a rosary in the hallway clearly visible from the front door.
I always ask why Jehovah's Witness children are taken out of R.E. lessons and Christian assemblies in school but I am expected to listen to them. Seems a bit one sided to me. I haven't yet had a convincing answer!
they have never been back here after OH engaged in a lengthy conversation/debate with them some years ago..they actually ended up making their excuses and left! he is available on hire for a small fee ! ;0)
The JWs knock on my door every couple of weeks and give me their latest bible verse to read and the JW magazine. They only come because I am pleasent to them and chat and comparative to the average householder that bothers, can talk knowledgeably about the things they talk about.
They don't realis (perhaps because I'm such a nice person.... or a good actress!!) that the magazine goes into recycling bin unopened.
