Regardless of its origins it makes perfect sense. It's a perfect guide for being aware of how our actions impact others. I was brought up to that principle not worded as such but as 'before you do or say anything think of who might be hurt or affected. Basically be considerate.

Something of a noble art.

The term has become massively debased and come to mean someone who insults and threatens those with whom the troll disagrees.

The old skool troll merely frequented message boards and posed provocative questions to get a strong reaction from the residents.

It was quite an art to troll websites without getting called out.

IMHO Theland has been successfully trolling this site for years. All credit to him. Especially if he didn't even realise he was a troll.
