I don’t believe that does apply to ‘religionists of all flavours’, but then again it depends on your idea of eat, drink, and be merry’. If it’s getting trashed, causing problems for others, and making a fool of yourself, I’m with the religionists who dislike that. There’s nothing wrong with ‘nice’. As benhilton says, the churches have some lovely times. I’ve organised very many functions in aid of our lovely old village church, including fetes (yes, I know, I’m one of those wicked non-believers so who’d a thunk?) and believe me, I’m no shrinking violet. I know how to organise a party! Whether it be a fete, a quiz night, a commemorative or celebratory bash, or anything else, with the food and alcohol in good supply, a guaranteed hoot is always had by all.
