Perhaps R&S should be retitled the "Youtube" topic? -

No. Keep it R & S. But there is nothing wrong using the available expertise to back up our theories.
But one or two ABers are very dismissive of this, but they don't have to watch the videos do they?
Cognition is an "emergent pattern"?

Yes I suppose so.

And there is a very smart Guy (and a good One) who has "created" a world in which some of the creatures He's created toothache, cancer, and
other less than pleasant things.

If the world I see is created by Theland's Him (who's a good guy) I don't buy into the Theland "Him" who's totally incompetent given that world as I see it. Nor can I explain the contradictions implicit in the belief that an omnipotent Deity would allow a cat to be run over by a car and die in pain behind my shed..
... some of the creatures He's created suffer toothache etc
Who has created this virtual(?) world V_E?
Can't spot the "virtual" in my posts, Mamya.

I would be surprised if what you want for your kids differs very much from what I want for my late wife's kids,

I'll reword my query...

//And there is a very smart Guy (and a good One) who has "created" a world in which some of the creatures He's created toothache, cancer, and

Who is he?

If he's well known I can find out I'm sure, but it's late - I understand if you'd rather not tell me.

Night.
I'm arguingg the benevolent creator, Mamya

Technical term is theodicy.

If I'm made in the "image of God" why do I care more about the cat with the broken spine dying behind my shed than the big guy iun the sky?

I can see where some might buy the argument that we're (the human race) being punished for some kind of indiscretion against an alleged creator . . . but what tree did the cat eat thereof is what I can't follow.
Nobody wants to take a shot at some explanations?
Or just criticise all that you don't believe in?
Question Author
This thread is a shot at an explanation. Obvious incomplete but in my view not entirely nonsensical either. But feel free, (if not encouraged), to criticise all the same.
Dear me. My proposition is this: why does your god allow suffering?

Doesn't my dying cat example refute the god of love stuff?
The answer as always is simple.

There's nothing up there, nowt, just endless recycling of a finite amount of stuff through random acts of destruction.

Anything else is just the ability to extract money like a Nigerian Prince temporarily down on his luck.
There's always a Nigerian scammer, Douglas.

But also more interesting ideas.

Sometimes and innit.
Thank you.
so what you're sayin' is cats get run over and people get toothache, so there ain't no God?
If a creator got it so wrong, submit an improved design that doesn't need constant adjustment and tweaking, but which works by itself.

I may look at the video later, although they should only be used to back up an argument made here. I suspect the physical necessities and indications to provide a body with consciousness may have a physical pattern, but it doesn't necessarily follow that, that is all there is to it.
In the beginning there was nothing. Then there was something.
Anybody care to try to explain?
Not without the aid of a few GnTs. And it’s too early for that. Just.
^^ So' he doesn't know then? may as well say God did it, no?
