That hands out religious tracts in the town centre...
He believes that one day I shall be saved.
He's never explained to me what 'been saved' actually means.
To be fair, he has problems with his schizophrenia but that aside, how can any sane individual think that we need to be saved from an eternal, unimaginably grotesque, torture and then proceed to worship the being that would send us there in the first place?
My friend has mental health issues....just makes me wonder if believers have too!
(Especially if they can hold that world view too)
@21:12 I don't think Theland is "Stirring" as you put it. He is just responding to the OP. It is you who is stirring and have some other agenda IMO and I think your "best wishes" are phoney.
//IMHO its trolling a particularly vulnerable user for entertainment.//
Why do you think that Theland is vulnerable?
How the hell do you know who is vulnerable or not?
Theland knows me of old and is perfectly capable of holding his own when he wants to.
Nailit - Infeel really sorry for you.
You are always searching but never finding what you are looking for.
You can't even determine exactly what you are looking for, but your search only ever involves trashing the beliefs of believers.
So sad.
I truly wish peace for you.
"how can any sane individual think that we need to be saved from an eternal, unimaginably grotesque, torture and then proceed to worship the being that would send us there in the first place?"
Well said woofgang at 20:47. Sick and tired of people being accused of having mental health problems just because they believe in God. It's a damn insult !!
I think a lot depends just on definition... a "mental condition" is anything from being happy, angry, heterosexual, religious.... etc etc" Anything that comes from the mind.
A "mental illness" is subjective. It's something that becomes an "illness" if it is detrimental to that person's life, or others.
So, really it could be either, depending on the person and whether it affects them in a positive or negative way.
I assume "issues" means negative, in which case, I would say no, not usually.
Nailit, the thing you need to ask yourself (because you bought mental health issues into it) is IF being religious meant you had a mental health issue, what mental health issue would that be?
That is just rubbish, spath. Clarity is always helpful and many people see "mental" as a description for anything as insulting, because they relate it to "madness". When it actually only refers to what comes from the mind. "Issues" could mean anything really, but I read it as a negative thing.
It's not how you read it personally.. The term "Mental condition" is a established term, you don't break it down to mental an then condition... The term "Mental Condition" implies there is a issue or disorder at works.
Being happy is not a mental condition, neither if being religious or homosexual...
