Theland,
You have often been accused of NOT answering questions put to you. Equally you have responded that you HAVE, either directly or by a link, (usually a youtube link).

Given your recent posts on other threads re genders: I would like to give you the chance to clear up any misunderstandings regarding your views on homosexuality without any animosity from other ABers. (Other ABers take note, this is for Theland only...its not an attack on him or his beliefs)

There are 2 genders? Its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve right?
The Old Testament orders the death of homosexuals. St Paul in the New Testament says that homosexuals are worthy of death. Revelations says that homosexuals will burn for eternity.
You have an homosexual child...how does this sit with your beliefs as an evangelical Christian?

Take this question as you will but I ask it out of genuine curiosity given your (published) beliefs about gender.
Thanks.

//Multi gender freaks? Well if somebody identifies as a six foot Chinese washing machine, do I call them out, or direct them to the nearest laundry?//

From the viewpoint of your religion TL, I can't see much difference between a homosexual and a transexual. Both could have strong belief in Jesus Christ, but you discribe one as a freak while the other you offer universal love. Doesn't your whole "love is all you need" doctrine fall flat on it's ass as a result?
GymLadTim, Jesus was not a transgender activist. In attempting to find in the bible what simply isn’t there the guy at the Christian union at your college was seeking justification and approval for a lifestyle. I am not terribly sympathetic to what I consider to be the plethora of nonsense talked about the multitude of genders and confusion society now finds itself expected to accept and embrace - it gets on my pip frankly - but having said that in my opinion you should be who you are without seeking approval from anyone and without attempting to justify your choices. By the same token a similar courtesy should be extended to me when I object to referring to a man as ‘she’. We can’t legislate on thought. What does it matter that I or anyone else disapproves? It doesn’t. No one need to justify themselves to others. Be strong. Your life is yours.

(Thanks Ed).
" In attempting to find in the bible what simply isn’t there "

Woah hold up... The bible isn't word for word fact. It's is script which is full of metaphors. People read a passage and take fromit what they will. What you may take Naomi GymLadTim may take something different.

Religion is about perspective and interpretation.

You can not tell GymLadTim that he is wrong or that his perception is wrong. If he takes what he has took from the bible, then so be it.. That's how religion is. Not every christian sees Christianity in the exact same light. It's all interpretation.

Let Tim interpenetrate the bible how he sees fit, and try not to tell him how to read it.

Surely your extensive research into religion taught you one thing, it's that everyone will interpritate something slightly differently?
spath, //Woah hold up...Let Tim interpenetrate the bible how he sees fit//

Woah yourself. Tim hasn't interpreted it. Someone else has.

There is no suggestion that Jesus was trans-gender.... none.... whichever way you interpret it. It's utterly ludicrous.
"It's utterly ludicrous."

I know.. it's religion.

Let tim perceive how he perceives, and you can perceive how you wish to.
Yes, spath, and we'll all perceive what we perceive - which means since you have no firm opinions there's no reason for you to wade in especially to disagree with me .... or especially to support him.
Tim perceives the older generation to be toxic. His words.
"you have no firm opinions"

I many firm opinions. But the main one I wish to share is that I think that many people will read different bible passages differently and interpret them as they see fit.
Naomi, 10:51, absolutely. This is what happens when people begin with the conclusion they would like and twist things backwards from there.
//the main one I wish to share is that I think that many people will read different bible passages differently and interpret them as they see fit. //

And you'd be right, spath, which is why some claim the bible contains information that really isn't there at all.

Indeed, Pixie.
^THIS^
"This " what, mozz?
the profound work of god, open to interpretation..omnificent creator
likes riddles and metaphors...not clear and concise for his mmm offspring..followers etc, no let's have a play on words.
It would have been quite bizarre for God to have created his own son as the "wrong" sex.
Pixie, I don't think wrong gender was an available condition 2000 years ago.
Not according to Tim...
Mozz at 13:05, ?
Mozz appears to be agreeing, but it would be a total volte face for him- which is usually more spath's style...
Sorry, my agreement was more with Spath's statement which Naomi quoted (yeah, I know. My cock up)

I said it myself elsewhere. Anything as old as the Bible is open for mistranslation of its original meaning. People read it with today's morals and standards, or to fit their own already forms beliefs.
Question Author
I don't get how something (in this case homosexuality) that the bible quiet clearly condemns as an 'abomination' worthy of death and eternal hell...in both the Old and New Testaments... can be excused while at the same time calling transgenders freaks? (when the Bible says absolutely nothing about transgenders anyway)

Its to your credit Theland, that you have not abandoned your son, when many other evangelicals would have done (Ive known a few that have)but have to wonder how you would react if your child now decided that he is actually a women in a mans body and had 'the op'?
Would love still conquer all or would you consider him a freak?
