Theland,
You have often been accused of NOT answering questions put to you. Equally you have responded that you HAVE, either directly or by a link, (usually a youtube link).

Given your recent posts on other threads re genders: I would like to give you the chance to clear up any misunderstandings regarding your views on homosexuality without any animosity from other ABers. (Other ABers take note, this is for Theland only...its not an attack on him or his beliefs)

There are 2 genders? Its Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve right?
The Old Testament orders the death of homosexuals. St Paul in the New Testament says that homosexuals are worthy of death. Revelations says that homosexuals will burn for eternity.
You have an homosexual child...how does this sit with your beliefs as an evangelical Christian?

Take this question as you will but I ask it out of genuine curiosity given your (published) beliefs about gender.
Thanks.

Theland, //Atheism is indeed a faith.

Now you're being silly.
Let me explain. Respectfully of course.
My understanding of atheism, is that it is purely materialistic, that the universe, as Carl Sagan insisted, is a closed system, nothing exists outside of it, therefore, its existence has to be explained by whatever is contained within that enclosed system.
So the atheist must, "believe," that what Carl Sagan said is true.
A faith in the fact that the answers to the origin of the universe, how life began, must of course be found within that closed system, and a faith in the fact that that no outside agency was ever involved.
This to me is a total fallacy that answers nothing, yet atheists believe that science will find the answers from within the closed system.
So far they have failed, but they enjoy the faith of atheists that one day all will be revealed.
As science has progressed, and made huge strides in discovering what features of the universe are fundamental, and what are emergent, they are faced with some inevitable conclusions that a self creating universe, self creating information, and abiogenesis are totally impossible, but their secularist materialistic worldview prevents them from accepting this and so they continue to chase their tails.
\\ So the atheist must, "believe," that what Carl Sagan said is true//
Why?
My, how you complicate life, Theland. Atheism is an absence of belief in supernatural gods. That’s it.
The same with evolution.
In 2016, leading scientists from around the world held a conference at the The Roysl Society, to discuss the way forward in consideration of evolutionary theory.
The meeting lasted a few days and broke up without any consensus on how to proceed, given that all agreed that Darwinian evolutionary theory was no longer fit for purpose.
They continue to stumble about in the dark, prevented from making progress again because their worldview and peer pressure prevents any breach of the materialistic code.
Naomi - I get it.
But I ask you to at least consider ouside agency, that is at least displaying an open mind.
The principal you consistently ignore is that at any point in our quest for greater understanding, nothing is ever added to our store of knowledge by refusing to acknowledge what we do not yet know while pretending that we do. 'God did it' offers nothing in the way of an explanation for anything other than the refusal to consider any other option.
Theland, /But I ask you to at least consider ouside agency//

But that isn’t what you’re really asking me to consider, is it. It’s not any old ‘outside agency’ you’re asking me to consider – an unknown ‘outside agency’. I can consider an ‘outside agency’ and conclude I see no evidence of it, but you claim you know who and what that ‘outside agency’ was - and that is the real stumbling block in your argument because that can be so very easily discounted.
Theland - I am aware of Carl Sagan, remembered for his pronunciation of 'the cars mars' as much as anything, but I have never watched a minute of his programmes, or read a word of his books.

I believe that you think that everyone looks for answers as fervently as you do, and from the same sources, and the fact is, they simply don't.

I don't believe in God - not because I have read exhaustively until I can back up my absence of belief with a mass of evidence, I simply do not believe - that's it.

There is no point looking for complicated reasons and explanations, they don;t exist, and I have far better things to do with my time than anguish over something that does not impact on my life in the slightest.
To be fair, Carl Sagan was arguably the foremost cosmologist of the 20th century. Stateside especially, he is incredibly well respected.

Just saying. As you were.
Carl Sagan - dead now of course - was quite brilliant. Well worth reading.
Naomi - // Carl Sagan - dead now of course - was quite brilliant. Well worth reading. //

Quite possibly, but I had the latest Lee Child for my birthday, and he takes priority over a deceased scientist any day!!!
AH, I have no idea why you're telling me that but your taste in literature comes as no surprise.
Naomi - // AH, I have no idea why you're telling me that but your taste in literature comes as no surprise. //

Is it especially cold up there - right on the top of the moral high ground where you live?
AH. Go and find someone else to vent your paranoia on. I'm not biting.
Naomi - I would, if I knew what it meant!!!
I'd have thought Lauren Child would've been more your taste Andy… ;-)
Very witty Mozz!!
