So. Many stories of supernatural phenomena are apparent on Answerbank.
So, keeping an open mind, and helping each other understand, let's try and discuss this really interesting subject.
My Christianity, your atheism but belief in, ''something unexplained.''
Surely something to investigate together?

My theory denies the existence of ghosts as spirit beings , as nothing more alive than a picture in a book. I suggest the manifestations of old energy are real but not evidence of any form of afterlife. Believe me, I doubt anyone wishes there was an afterlife and a chance of reunion more than me.

No zacs... just Google to see what a ghost it.
Eve, where does this energy come from, when someone has died?
Also zacs, you can't "not quite leave life". It's an absolute, like male/female, pregnant/ not, alive/dead.

Those who have often held the hands of the dying must have something to say?

/// Eve, where does this energy come from, when someone has died?///
Not even sure....all I know is we are all made of cells (to put it simplistically) and even after we pass away our bodies converts the cells that were “us” .... into things that help other living things. To be blunt... wherever we are buried, or our ashes scattered we “feed” other living things. Plants for eg wld take up part of “us” from the soil (again simplistic but I hope you get what I mean). So our energy lives on .... and always will .... and again I think I can say that is scientific not spiritual so it doesn’t really affect my beliefs
It is interesting this chat .... and great that it hasn’t descended (yet) into a “my opinion is better than your opinion” that often happens on here

Love! Now there's a thing.
I fell in love at a very young age, got married at 21, and now 48 years later, in spite of ups and downs a d six kids, and a bezzie mate and friend and companion, my heart does not flutter like those very early days of love.
I love my wife now, but I honestly knew the love that the poets wrote about, the silly love, the great love, the Romeo love.
So love is really weird.
Spiritual?
I agree, eve... probably everything in the world, eventually remains here, one way or another. But if people have souls, with energy... where does that come from? Bearing in mind many more are born daily?
And why are women do programmed to reproduce, if they are eternal anyway?
Good for you, theland:-). We are still here if you need us xx
I was once a member of a paranormal investigation group. I was their 'token' sceptic.
We investigated all sorts...haunted pubs, haunted houses, mediums, UFO's, you name it! On a personal level, Ive dabbled in the occult, played with ouija boards, read Aleister Crowley books, looked into occult society's, witchcraft etc
Ive met with Wiccans, Spiritualists, etc and even conversed with the occasional (LaVeyan) Satanist.
Ive been involved in Tarot, Astrology, Eastern Mysticism.

If anybody was going to attract the supernatural (or Satanic) it would be me.
I found nothing that couldnt be explained by psychology...
\\\ But if people have souls, with energy... where does that come from? ///

For me that’s where my belief in God comes from. He (and yes let’s use a He for simplicity sake) sparked the / created our energy of our soul
I have been with a large number of people as they died my observations are was follows
A) those who claimed to have faith often suffered more fear and doubt as death approached. I lost count of how many asked me if I believed in an afterlife
As a rule I simply said no one knows , as my belief would have added to their fears.
B) There is a point where someone goes from living to dead that is so clear and doesn't always match what the monitors said. ( it does seem to tie more closely to brain death but not always).
C). Having loved ones present helps most of the time but any kind voice and touch seems to work in making dying patients settle
D) No evidence of any spirit hanging around afterwards
/// B) There is a point where someone goes from living to dead that is so clear and doesn't always match what the monitors said. ( it does seem to tie more closely to brain death but not always). //

That rowan I totally get.
But eve, even if you don't believe in biology....how about after death? What does that even mean, if your consciousness continues?
Me too, nailit...
Rowan, totally...
Eve... monitors aren't accurate with brain death. It's a process, rather than an easy tell. Nothing mysterious, it's just that oxygen remains in the brain for a little while after the heart stops. Not really anything to "agree" with. It just does.
Ah good question pixie. You kind of got me thinking (cos id not really thought of that aspect before). All I can presume is consciousness continues but not here on earth. The consciousness goes to heaven, or hell. The cellular memory (which I'm sure isn't the right term) I mean is that it a "part of a person" but not "the person". like the cells of the next living creature are imprinted with part of what that person was .....errrgh its hard to explain. And again this is my opinion only - it is what I think but ...I don't know. it just makes sense to me
But sometimes you know the person has gone before the heart even changes rhythm, before the oxygen level falls those were the times you did Neuro observations and found fixed dilated pupils, no response to stimulus and called
the registrar on duty and started preparing the family. I don't think it is the spirit I think it's a change in an energy field, One nurse claimed she saw the aura fade not sure about that
