Atheists, of the many misconceptions believers have about atheists, what are some that you experienced directly in interactions with believers that were especially irritating?

"No one thinks of or describes themselves that way." Really? Even, "Atheist"? Codswallop.
Ah well, live and let live, Nailit :)
Spungle; Atheist is my avatar name. Spungle is yours - what is a spungle?
I'm a non-fundamental atheist, in that I don't believe that "God" is a necessary concept to explain everything; in fact "God" doesn't explain anything, it merely serves to give a name to what we can't yet explain.
I like the scientific ideal of continually searching foe explanations, rather than the religious view that explanations are already there (i.e. your religious beliefs), or that the search for them indicates that you lack faith and are therefore not pleasing to God.
Nailit, 20.24, very good. :o)
What is 'eating Jesus' meant to mean?
I think it's you who believes in the aliens visiting the earth, isnt it Naomi? It's quite obvious who Spungle is referring to as the 'drug-addled anti-vaxxer'- he nailed that one. As for 'tapped in the head', hmmm, that doesnt really narrow it down too much!

Not that some atheists don't exhibit quite a bit of logic and rationale, bit they certainly don't have the monopoly, as AB proves every single day.
Yeah, Spungle is my avatar name, too. I always had you down as an atheist, Atheist. I don't know where I got that idea from!

Hazi- I think Nailit, (atheist), when he says "eating Jesus" may be referring to the false Catholic dogma of transubstantiation- certainly not something they have got from the Bible. At the last supper, Christ Himself broke the bread, saying this do in remembrance of Me- a symbolic act. But trying to reason with an anti-vax, anti-Christian, anti-God mentality isn't worth the time or effort. Much better to, "Live and let live."!
Ah right ok. Thought he had got the wrong end of the stick again. Its a common misconception that believers believe this sort of stuff!
The Bible reveals that God the Creator has had dealings with individual men, with individual families and with whole nations, If you know your Bible.
It is not just a book of past history, dead history, rotting in the grave now for over 2,000 years. Rather, from its very beginning the Bible has always been a forward-looking book, and this is so because it has been outstandingly a book of divine prophecy. Besides its direct prophecies for the future, many of the events that the Bible keeps a record of have been recorded because they are prophetic illustrations of future events, not excluding events of our day.
So in this remarkable fact lies the vital importance of the Holy Bible. It is the one Book that we dare not overlook or brush aside today. I do not propose to do so in my discussion here, although the nations have done so to their own confusion.
By our not ignoring, but heeding, the inspired, prophetic Bible, we shall not make ourselves a laughingstock to God.
Sorry Spungle (Seriously)
Had you down as a Jesus eater.
(My bad)

Still mad though to believe in
Bible Myths as though they were fact!
GOODLIFE,
Post something original rather than copying and pasting for
goodness sake.
Something from your own keyboard!

1) Atheists dont have morals
2) Atheists dont know about love
3) Atheists dont know the Bible
4) Atheists dont have answers
5) Atheists just want to sin
6) Atheists are just anti-theist
7) Atheists hate God
8) Atheists are not spiritual
9) Atheists are anti-religion
10) Atheists are canabalistic eating, heathens who devour children for breakfast, and devour drugs and alcohol by the bucket load for dinner and engage in homosexual encounters for tea.
Thereafter we dance nude, under a setting sun, naked in the forest,
and worship pagan deities..
After drinking their blood, we revil in death and destruction and curse god and stamp on the bible.

Hope this answers the question...
You are a poor soul, but why do I continue on here? True, we have jw.org. Over 5000 a week get baptized, some were atheist. We tell not only “good news to the meek ones” and “the year of good will on the part of Jehovah” but also “the day of vengeance on the part of our God.” (Isa. 61:1, 2; Rev. 14:6-12)
Like prophets of old, Jehovah’s witnesses must carry on to tell people “whether they will hear or will refrain,” even in the face of opposition. “They will not want to listen to you, for they are not wanting to listen to me . . . You must not be afraid of them, and you must not be struck with terror at their faces.” (Ezek. 2:5-7; 3:4, 7-9)
Hope this answers the question.
goodlife, you state as a fact that over 5000 a week get baptised. Can you offer one iota of proof other than what might be printed in the watchtower? ( 5000 a week is approx 1 person every two minutes ).
Spungle and Hazi however, obligingly provide proof of andy hughes point of moral superiority.
Pixie 20.18. Possibly the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen here is an atheist - you in this instance - equating ghosts with god.

Nailit, I wouldn’t say I ‘believe’ aliens have visited earth but I think it likely. I can’t think of a better explanation for ‘god’.
The one that irritates me is the misconception that atheists are incapable of being in awe and wonder of the natural world.

Naomi, I wasnt the one that bought up aliens.
However, I feel it unlikely. Personal opinion.

Read Von Daniken and others as a teenager and none of them convinced me. (Well, maybe fleetingly)

Im now, more of the opinion that ALL religions are based upon the cycles of nature. The further back you go you find that all religion is based upon nature/astro-theology.

Dying and ressurecting gods are Thousands of years old and not unique to Christianity. I found this out early on in my Christian journey.
I then found out that the stories in the Gospels were not unique either.
Everyone/Everything was found in earlier writings/scripts/religions.
Everything in the New Testament was a rewriting of older God/men myths.

Religion evolves just like everything else.

Apologies Naomi, I thought it was your belief that it was likely that aliens had visited our planet. Thanks for clarifying.
