Hazi - // Thou art living proof that one doesn't need to be religious to be full of soulless moralising and disdain. //

No, but it helps if you are going to do it on a daily basis, and nothing else but, as Goodlife and co. do.

// Hence standing by a disdainful and soulless comment when you could have just said 'Enjoy the video guys'. //

Disdainful? Absolutely, with bells on, but 'souless', I don't think so.

// But trying to argue with He who is Never Wrong is truly a fruitless exercise which makes threads such as these go on for ever and ever, amen. //

Not at all.

If you, or anyone else can provide a valid argument that refutes my view of Goodlife and his fellow superior doom-mongers, I will be delighted to discuss it with you.
Not a patch in this banging choon from Ireland

Hang on a-h. You said the priest had written the song. Now I cannot purport to have any experience in the music industry, but I believe the priest wrote different lyrics. (Hope he acknowledged Leonard's work in the order of service for his plagiarism.) Now that is a school day ;)
Oh I love that stickybottle, thanks for sharing

If you feel the need to be pedantic, then clearly the priest did write his own lyrics to Hallelujah, rather than actually writing the song.

I took it for granted that anyone who recognised the song from the video would appreciate what he did - and anyone who didn't know the song would not appreciate that he did something nice with a famous song, because they would not know what it was.

Hopefully this makes you happier than you were five minutes ago.
He looks like a fun chap! Most of our vicars (vicaresses?) are happy, normal people. I try not to get involved with 'The Fervents' - although I would like to assure them that my faith in God is firm.

It's one of the big problems in that people think that being Christian is somehow being apart from life - when in fact it is recognising it and celebrating in all its facets - including when life goes wrong.

It makes it awkward for people like me - I'm just getting on with things as well as I can and helping people through church initiatives (food bank etc.). People misunderstand.

Good for that guy celebrating - I shall be celebrating at the top of my voice soon. (Carol services etc.!)
I am fine, no need to worry about that :D

What a nasty little man

Khandro - interesting that you home in on the support of your fellow fervent.

It saves you the tiresome task of considering what I said, and why, and the possibility that I may be right.

But then again, thinking that someone with a different view to yours might be worth a little consideration would damage your construct of unshakeable belief that only you and those who think like you, could ever be right.

Everyone else simply needs to see God through your eyes, and if they don't, their thoughts are to be dismissed as so much white noise.
This is a true education in the delivery of disdain, you can give those you constantly criticise a run for their money Andy.
//Khandro - interesting that you home in on the support of your fellow fervent.//

Andy, there are many on here who are far from being "fervents", but you hone in on an easy target in Khandro. Maybe you should actually consider the possibility that your words here are completely unnecessary, particularly targeting someone who is completely uninvolved in the thread itself.

There are plenty of examples on AB where Goodlife is deserving of disdain. This wasn't one of them.

Fair enough.
That’s a nasty post .
Goodlife's endless soulless moralising and disdain?

The bloke rarely contributes.
hughesQuestion Authorchoux - // a-h "He has taken the trouble to write and rehearse a unique song which everyone there will remember."

The song was written and composed by Canadian poet and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen (1934-2016), who said in interviews that it took at least four years and two notebooks to write an unspecified number of completed verses. //

Goodness me!!

Every day is a school day!!
