Oh my! I think you've just lit the fuse in an explosives factory!

Everything you are familiar with is caused, by something else.

You were "caused" by your parents, you computer was made, caused that is, by the manufacturers of numerous components.

So you, and your computer, are "effects" of a "cause".

Cause and effect. That is your experience of your reality.

So, if the universe is an "effect," what was its "cause?"

I believe the cause was the creator, God.

However, I think the "cause" of my post, will have quite an "effect" as you will see from posts from those that disagree with my beliefs.

Watch out for WaldoMcFroogs "Flying Spaghetti Monster", or a chap named Wizard who sometimes explodes at the mere mention of God.

Remember, YOU lit the fuse! Take cover!
ka-boom !!! :0)
Talk about the "Big Bang"! Wait until the gang arrive!
Presumably in theland's argument there's an infinite regress of gods, each of which is caused by another, ad infinitum. Otherwise it's just stopping the chain of cause and effect at an arbitrary point.
jenstar - No, not an infinite regression of gods, just one God, who is eternal, not "was" or "will be" but just "is."
Also, watch out for Theland failing to give answers as soon as someone posts something that he hasn't got a ready answer for. Always entertaining.

P.S. The Flying Spaghetti Monster could have God in a fight.
Waldo - I am not God. Like most humans, I don't always have the answers. But I could make some up if you like.
Sorry, I thought we were pointing out each other's foibles...
Waldo - You are right, of course. In my defense, then, after careful consideration, I have to say that I havn't been asked the right questions!
A typical bit of intellectual skulduggery from you,Theland. You establish a principle - everything must have a cause - then apply that to the universe and life, allowing you to decide quite arbitrarily that the cause is God. But when it is then pointed out to you that, by your own principle, God in turn must have a cause you abandon the principle only just established! You know, it would be interesting to work out how many other amazing things one could 'prove' by that method: use a principle while it suits you then kick it out when it doesn't. Or do I mean boring?
chakka35 - God is His own cause and effect. If He wasn't, then He wouldn't be God, would He?
And there's a chocolate tea pot orbitting the earth...
Waldo - Then do you see us as divided between those who claim they know, and those who claim they don't know? That's saying, let's celebrate not knowing the answer. I think
I'm with Waldo on the chocolate teapot - afterall what more could you need but chocolate and tea - the meaning of life in my opinion!

To answer the original question - there is no evidence whatsoever that god exists - full stop.
aanavc - That's Waldos' chocolate teapot idea.
You should have brought your own.
No, I see a divide between those who have a strong catalogue of evidence to support their falsifiable contentions, and those who do not (and who moreover would share the first group's skepticism of other people's equally fanciful but different beliefs in the face of no evidence, but apparently see no irony in their own positions; Norse Gods, Islam, Sikhism, FSM, Chololate Tea Pots etc)
It's Bertram Russell's teapot actually.
Whoever's teapot it is it's a jolly nice one and I'm joining the cult!

Now, must go put the kettle on.
Waldo - So just let me get this into bite size chunks. First, you agree that I have a strong catalogue of evidence.
But, it supports something falsifiable? By other evidence, I presume?
(Thelands head begins to spin ... a bit)
aanavc - Pour me one as well.
