I know the Roman Catholic church uses the term 'father' and so do the Greek and Russian Orthodox churches. Any advance on that anyone?

Looking through the paper and reading this horrific story my guess would be an Anglican, as Archdeacons and vicars are mentioned, but if so, then it would be the very High church where the priest is often called Father. More like Catholic with incense and the confessional box.
According to tonight's news, he was Anglican.

So is He Father X ,is he a Vicar,is he a Priest -All three?
Or did the BBC. get it wrong?
No, he is an Anglican, but as I said he was High Church, or Anglo-Catholic.

That means he was ordained into the Anglican church, but veered towards the Catholic tradition, so Father would have been his correct title. Vicar and Priest are generic terms and also correct.

Cetti, Ok thanks for the Help. I had thought that Priest and Vicar were different ,now I know.
