If I said that christians are "ill" and are cruel to animals because of their disposition towards religion it would be ridiculous (although I could make a case out for it) so as far as Im concerned he deserves all the abuse that he may get for it. Iv'e know a few homosexuals over the years and not one has been cruel to animals (or humans for that matter). The opposite has been true.
And as for his opinion that homosexuals shouldnt be on prime time tv, where does he draw the line? what about presenters that are having extra marital affairs or those that are "living in sin"? What about presenters that have been known to have a drink problem? should these be banned as well in case they have a negative affect on youngsters?
And I guess that rock groups should likewise be barred from tv in case their "satanic" music takes a hold.
If it was up to mani we would all be watching the God channel and nothing else (exept maybe repeats of stars on sunday)

Lonnie...would you have felt someones posts should have stayed if they had the "courage" to put forth their racist views?
Mani's views were not only homophobic, they were ridiculous and steryotyped gays as been cruel.
It was pathetic and anyone who thinks that he was "courageous" needs their head examining

I'm really suprised his post was banned actually. I completely disagree with his views just like most people on here but like it or not a lot of people would agree with what he says.
The fact is 99% of muslims would echo his sentiments and in many cases go even further so would their views not be welcome on here either? And in most parts of Africa and Asia these views are common place.
If we disagree with him then surely it's better to disagree with a reasoned argument that to just remove his posts. The nature of this site requires that it needs diverse opinions to work and it would be a bit boring if everyone just agreed with each other.
If he believes that homosexuals are mentally ill or possessed by the devil then surely it's not unreasonable for him to believe that they are more likely to harm animals than the people he believes are not mentally ill or possessed? If may be an outrageous idea from the typical British point of view but no so much when you look at it from Mani's point of view.

Wizard - If you asked a question like your hypothetical one then I think it should be left up so that people could tell you how ridiculous it was.
What Mani said is just a bit shocking because it's not an attitude we are used to. Christians are often called names and stereotyped on here but we are used to that. I remember a few days ago someone said that Christians are hate filled and only care about their own salvation. If Mani said gays are hate filled and only care about themselves people would be ready to lynch him!!
I think it's very difficult once you get into what is acceptable and what isn't becuase everyone sees it differently. I used to feel offended when Theland was always going on about Catholics in every post but then we are all different and we are on here to put our different views across.

I really don't like this curtailment of freedom of speech. It smacks of 'thought police', and in the end, whatever anyone says is going to offend someone. Laws, and political correctness may these days prevent someone from speaking their mind, but it doesn't stop them thinking the way they think. Only education can do that. Perhaps if people like Mani were allowed to express their true feelings, we'd have a better chance of educating them and of changing their outlook. Supressing this nonsense is not the way. It doesn't cure the problem.
