One line from the Lord's Prayer is 'lead us not into temptation'.

Do you think God would lead us into temptation - and if your answer is 'no', why do you ask him not to?

James 1: 13-14 says, "When tempted, no one should say, 'God is tempting me.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed."

Many Christians believe that we are unable to resist temptation without God's grace. We are called to trust the Lord (not ourselves) for strength to resist temptation before it becomes sin. It is not the temptation itself that leads us to sin, but the lack of resistance and trust in the Lord for deliverance. God doesn't tempt us, but He allows us to be put into situations where our faith is tested and strengthened.

So why not say 'help us to resist tempation'? This section of the prayer, as it is, makes no sense.
Its the English language for you.

Lead and guide us, to not do something sinful

would possibly be a modern equivalent.

That figures really when you consider the confusion that is Christianity.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.

What?
I think God knew exactly what he was doing and not only gave us all the tools to lead ourselves into one sort of temptation but didn't realise that things would get quite so out of hand and have to send down a teacher who he knew would end up dead and in so doing put guilt on peoples shoulders so in turn God wrote his own prophesy.
Mmmm...........Clever.
I'm sure none of that made any sense and after reading it back I confused myself.

If this God is such a big shot!!!

Why is it, that when he made man (which I think is absolute twaddle) did he equip man with the mentality to be so evil to one another! I know he is supposed to have given us free will but if Evil didn't exist it wouldn't happen, why did he give us the power to be so destructive, every thought, every emotion, every deed, good or bad was enabled by this God.

Sorry but it does wind me up sometimes, most of the evil done in this world is by some sort of God fanatic!!!!!

So much better off with it all!!
