what happend to the gifts the three wise men brought?
and I have read that the gold was alexanders gold, is this true?

Three wise men? What book do they appear in?
You might as well ask what brand of pumpkin it was that was turned into a coach.
if you are to take the bible literally, the magi were visiting the birth of the descendant of King David, so such gifts would have been apt.

How that sits with the image of a lowly carpenter's son is another question.
The gold was for his kingship, the myrhh for his "priesthood" and the frankincence for his death. As the holy family had to flle to Egypt from Herod they could make good use of these gifts. Gold was/is valuable and could pay for food etc; myrhh could be used a bit like talcum for the baby and frankincence was used like a disinfectant.
