I sincerely hope that there is no reincarnation because the statistical probability, if there is, apalls me.
I was born into a very happy working-class childhood, in one of the world's most civilised countries, and am now a contented, middle-class fellow surrounded by fine friends and a loving family, with a fulfilling job and (no credit to me) a high intelligence which allows me to study all manner of fascinating subjects (with the country's best public library on hand to help).
The chance that I would be similarly fortunate in a replay is remote. A Chinese, Indian or South American peasant is much more likely. And I don't fancy working paddy-fields or tea-plantations.
I might even be born daft enough to become religious, for heaven's sake! Or , at least, superstitious enough to believe in daft things like reincarnation...
