the word of God, isn't it? I don't know if he personally wrote it down, but he did the 10 commandments at least so he may have put the lot down on tablets fo stone.

it was translated into english many many years after it had first been written. I wonder sometimes if there had been a few mistranslations

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that religious nuts probably have necer contemplated the answer to this question and I would assume they'd answer God wrote it. This theory can be factually disproven.
what you can factually disprove that God didn''t actually write the bible? Oh go on then.
Men wrote the bible as evidenced by the numerous contradictions it contains
God is well known to have been dislexic!! so he couldnt have written it!!!!!!
good word, dislexic
Not only was he dyslexic, he had a very low supply of typewriter ribbon back then and so it would have taken him forever.
rofl @ jno
oh the irony..!!
Not even God could be bothered to put pen to paper..
Old testament is believed to mostly have been written by Moses himself, either divinely inspired or not and the new testament is a bit obvious isnt it?

As for the old testament, yep, if you are catholic it has been heavily edited but if you are of protestant denomination then apart from the book of kings being split into 2 and a a few stories out of order then you are pretty much reading the hebrew version.

The new testament originally appeared in Greek after all the stories were collected.

Word of mouth maybe and people were so inspired they wrote these stories down. To me the new testament especially seems to be a good line of how to lead you life and probably helped some to shaping some sort of right from wrong/judicial system. However with all things, it can be taken out of context. We had a conversation on here a couple of weeks ago when a regular church goer used the words an eye for an eye out of context to how it is supposed to be read.

JK Rowling?
My understanding is that the early bible was mostly word of mouth until about 300bc when it was written in Hebrew. The new testament was written in Greek and Hebrew. I agree that the translations are open to some debate. Especially as Hebrew has no vowels!!!!
