sort of a link here but instead of hijacking other peoples threads I thought I would start a proper one regarding who you are and what your like outside this virtual custard pie throwing arena!

I have 2 entries cause my computer at work saved my details and when I went home one night it wouldnt work and couldnt remember which email i'd used so created a new similar name for me at home.

I have seen most Arnie films and yes I love him and I love films in general really not seen new HP but have always watched them just because. Not been that impressed with any of them. (although voldermort versus dumbledore fight was amazing at cinema!!)

Yeah loved the books, I almost stole one in Italy when I went backpacking cause they had it on display 2 days early!

I thought "they're practically asking me to steal from them"

but then i thought "nah i dont want to go to hell"

I have friends who are convinced they'll go to hell just for reading the books - so they never have. They seem to think they're some sort of evil manual on witchcraft, but that's what happens when you take someone else's word for it instead of finding out for yourself.

Wiz, I went to see HP. A bit slow to begin with, story line changed somewhat, explanation about the half-blood prince rather rushed, and quite a lot of the story ignored altogether, I suppose due to time limitations, but all in all I thought it was pretty good - although some of the acting wasn't great. (Horace Slughorn was brilliant though - as was Ron Weasley). OK, the ending left much of the story out, but the final outcome was right - and the effects were superb Overall, I enjoyed it.

Are you going to see it, Sherman?

Well, I got no takers - old or new - for a new version of the Sanctuary on your thread, Sherman, so I take it it's a no go.

I am 30 and work in telecoms. I have read all the Harry Potter books but not really bothered about the films. I have just eaten a chicken tikka jalfrezi. My daddy is a computer repairman by day and a chinese deliveryman at night. I don't love Jesus.

I went to see it and as with the rest i thought they were average!

to much focus on the filler stuff and all the action in a bout 10 minutes at the end doesnt make a good film really.

But its still good to see all my favourite characters on screen.

Sherman, I can't think of one film that has improved upon the original book, can you? (And I'm not only talking about Harry Potter here).

Perhaps I should add, Sherman, that I haven't seen every film that's ever been made, and I haven't read every book that's ever been written!

Not just trying to oppose you but I would definately say the film of The silence of the lambs was a much better film than it was a book.

Can't think of any others but it was an acting masterclass (and Jodie Foster is the better actor in that film!) that just brought it all more to life in my mind than the book did.

Ah, well you've provided evidence that sometimes films do out-perform books. I haven't read The Silence of the Lambs, but the film scared me so much that I have never been able to bring myself to watch the subsequent movies. What a wuss! :o)

I wouldnt bother with the others they dont really add anything....in fact they subtract from the masterpiece that is silence of the lambs.

its worth reading but definately definately not as good as the film.
also did you know that gene hackman bought the rights and was planning to direct and start as dr lector before he sold the rights on? huh! well did you?

Predator? Is that about some invisible creature lurking around a jungle or something like that? I'm sure I've seen it, but why am I thinking it's another Arnie film? Oh, don't tell me. It's because I don't know much about films, and I probably wasn't paying attention to what I was watching. Ha!

I don't think I could read The Silence of the Lambs, Wiz. Books and films like that give me the willies!
