You can criticize me all you want for this post, I'm not really bothered and I am not suggesting any one in particular this is general but I would like to say that these discussions on this site are interesting, demanding and very enlightening. Although alot of them are religious based and I get the impression that many users are very knowledgeable in religion, it does not mean that other opinions can be treated disrepectfully. I appreciate that some opinions may frustrate the knowledgeable user by their lack of education in that area. I, myself will say that my opinions in this area may be naive, pathetic, unsophisticated and poor but nevertheless I have an opinion and I have every right as any other user to voice my opinion.
I would not participate in this site if I was not open to being educated in this area.This in itself should suggest a positive step for those who want to influence others by their knowledge. As adults we should appreciate the different lifesyles and backgrounds that we all come from and we should respect different views within reason, without being insulting. Instead a response post should be educational and is it too much to ask that it be understanding? Instead of critical or scarcastic? I did actually end up watching a 2 hour doc 'The BIble Unearthed' today which I would never have done. Finally I ask again that whatever someone's belief, however pathetic and naive it comes across, it is nevertheless someone's held belief and no-one appreciates or deserves disrespect of that. If it's not agreeable that's fine but at least be reasonable in expressing your disagreement of it.

Do you agree with his idea of educating the dissenters?
How would you implement that, perhaps you could open some sort of camp to educate them in, and as for those who refuse to re-educated perhaps specialist police units could be formed to *** them off the streets or from their houses, to make things easier perhaps the dissenters could be forced to wear some sort of badge. That sounds like the basis of a fair and just society, does it not?

I am not asking for enforced homogeneity. Banning religion has been tried before. Actually it is enevitably a case one religion banning another. The best know is Marxism ( an athist religion) banning thresim. It simply send religion underground.
I would like to see Bible studies introduced into schools. Real Bible studies that actually look at what is written in an objective way. Comparative studies of Genesis versus the paleoentogy. Joshua's gencide versus broader concepts of morality. Education in the nature of religious doctrine and fundamentalism.
Most of all, the point I am trying to make is that religion does not have the right to expect to be able to promote their beliefs withouth having to endure criticism.

Even that shows few peopl'e mentality. Now Wizard thinks that after that thread about Muhammed (pbuh) marriage to Ayesha (pbuh) I disappeared. That thread was what it was and I have no time to waste again on all that. But although I have no reason to hide from people like Wiz who if people ignore them take it as their victory.
Simple reason for my "disappearance" was that my mother passed away few weeks ago and first of all I went to Pakistan due to that and then for few weeks did not feel like switching the PC on.

I actually agree with the last part of your post Beso, the expression of religion should be questioned in exactly the same way as political expression is when it affects adversely and unfairly the way others live their lives.
I have yet to come across an idea to bring about a truly atheist society without oppression.
Personally I think we have the balance about right in Britain, the squabbles are largely due to various individuals with axes to grind, to the profound indifference to most others.

I'm so very sorry to hear that, Keyplus. It's a hard time, but good memories help. My mother died almost 20 years ago, and I still think of her every day. I can only reiterate what others have said. We have our differences, but in times of trouble, I think most of us genuinely care about each other.

i think it is the assumption that if someone is a believer then they are uneducated unread illiterate and generally stupid that gets me really. i don’t believe any of it and think it is all hogwash, but i don’t think people that do are all empty headed weirdos. i am reasonably well educated and have friends from all walks. i would never treat people in person the way some people are treated here, just for believeing in something that i think is made up. it’s a bit like “jedwardism”, yes the people are daft sods for voting and lining cowells pockets, but they feel better for it and it makes them cheerful (i guess). i don’t know how and i don’t know why, but i am not going to sit here calling them dense inebriates for it, or try to convince them not to vote/to vote for someone elese. my belief is that theu are all crap and nobody should watch xfactor or vote. but to insist on it and denounce everything they do by telling them they are turd fro brains is just pointless offensive and narcissistic.

A bit of a contradiction there, Ankou. You accuse those who argue against religion of assuming all believers are uneducated, unread and illiterate (which is solely your assumption, and one that isn't true), and of telling them they have 'turds for brains' (I presume that's what your garbled message meant - but I've never seen anyone here make that accusation, so again just your assumption).

Hopefully when you've been around a bit longer, you'll understand that whilst we regularly sling custard pies at each other, and have done for years, most of us are enlightened and intelligent enough to understand that they are only harmless custard pies. This is not World War IIII. It's nothing more than an anonymous debating forum where those with similar interests come to discuss those interests, and any attempt to stifle those debates because you think people ought to agree with your sentiments places a blight on the whole the forum.

Ankou, Short sentences and fairly uncomplicated words as requested. My reference to the irony in your post was simply to demonstrate the inconsistency in your opinions. The 'twaddle' was posted in an effort to uphold the right of everyone here to participate in intelligent debate. As for my perceived verbal abuse, I haven't a clue what you're talking about. All was meant kindly, but if you choose to ignore it, do bear in mind I'm not the only one reading your posts.
