“…..tamborine: (Thu 23:02 07/Jan/10) Speak for yourself keyplus - not ALL men are so ruthless as to divorce a woman for her bank balance.
Keyplus90 (Sat 22:37 09/Jan/10) – Muslims countries have least rate of divorce. Now lets see other side of your coin……”
Muslim divorces are unaccountable; show me evidence of your statistics. Polygamy is accepted in the Koran, who needs divorce if you can have lots of wives. Polygamy leads to men legally neglecting earlier wives & kids, often with little income since many muslim women are not encouraged to earn independently; giving men sole power.
Muslim women are coerced by their men & faith to shroud themselves against the outsiders, to lose their individuality. For me, seeing a covered muslim woman is like looking at a roll of cloth – it has no senses I can relate to. Talking to a pair of eyes is fruitless if I can’t see a facial response. That, ofcourse, is exactly how a muslim man wants me to perceive their females. However here you are, a muslim man, having dialogue with kaffir women.

If you choose to read every single thing in the Koran into life then thats your problem because like the bible it doesn't have all the answers, just some that suit you.
The only reason it seems to be every where is because people like you insist in forcing it on every one you meet. I and many others are not interested.
What is so hard for you to understand about that?
I don't think I have come across any one quite as deluded as you are in what you precieve to be a great religion. A religion full of violence and fear. How about all the women who have regretted ever converting. But you won't hear from them. They are now to afraid to speak out because if they do it will possible death.

Evening Wiz, My husband has a lovely Muslim girl working for him. She doesn't drink alcohol, she's a good daughter to her parents, she dresses very smartly for the office, and she chats and is friendly with everyone. Nothing wrong with that ........ err ....... in my opinion. But, of course, I could be wrong. ;o)

Beso – Its you who believe that Quran does not give equal rights to Women as men. Quran only says that women’s rights are different from men as emotionally, physically and in more aspects they are different. Would you like women competing against men in boxing, weight lifting etc in Olympics if they are same? Or why did they not treat women same as men when Titanic was going down (according to the movie at least). Otherwise you tell me where Quran says that women do not have same rights as men? And I am sure whatever you would come up with, you would have no back ground knowledge about that and you would not even consider when someone would explain even if makes sense.
Tigerlily- Your second sentence in the last post explained to me about how much you knew about Islam, before coming across me and how much you know now. I would say nothing has changed and that is because you are not thinking. Who told you that women pay men in Islam to marry? So next time try reading properly or ask if you do not understand. As for dowery which according to you went out of style long time ago, did your husband (if you are a woman) give you a wedding ring? What would you call that? If problem is about word then choose a different word.
Finally about “chat” now few of you have explained nicely that Islam does not stop women having a chat with others. So please explain that to tamborine.

I said I could not communicate with a 'roll of cloth' - if that is how islam presents their women to me, I couldn't be bothered - I have the rest of the world on tap.
Anyone who gives up our civilisation & culture for the dark-ages of Islam & Sharia has got to be simple-minded.

Keyplus, don't hide behind Wiz's and my posts. You know full well that many Muslim women aren't allowed to speak to men who are not members of their immediate family, so have the courage of your convictions and admit that Tamborine is absolutely right.
Answer the question. What do you mean by 'chat'?
Answer the question. What do you mean by 'chat'?
Obviously Islam does not allow women to mix up (in isolation) with anyone outside of the family. Because that’s where all the extra marital affairs start. I am not saying it always happens but usually that is the beginning. Prevention is better than treatment. General chat has no problem. And why I asked about “chat” because tamborin’s question has some sort of emphasise in it. So I wonder if he is referring to another sort of chat which I am not sure. Its like saying such and such person is not allowed to breath, where everyone knows that you do not need permission to breath and if someone is saying then he may be referring to something else that he is aware of.
And tamborin if someone ever offer you a “roll of cloth” then make sure you stick to your words. I am sure it would be better for that roll of cloth too. As it better to stay away from someone who can’t see more than obvious.
Beso – If you think different rights and equal rights are two different things then OK I agree with you. But can you answer my questions in the post above?

Naomi’s own words even tell a lot.
//// You know full well that many Muslim women aren't allowed to speak to men who are not members of their immediate family//////
Now I know why I see so many Muslim women carrying written shopping lists which they show to the shop keepers as they are not allowed to “speak” to them.

I didn't answer your question because it was trite. These examples are not the issue.
In Islam women are forced to cover up while there are no restrictions on a man. This ridiculous teaching is devoid of the man having to take any responsibility.
Moreover it is a practice that is known to cause psychoses in some men resulting in extreme beahviours when any breach of the protocol is perceived. We had an incident in Australia a few years ago where a group Muslim men felt compelled to gang rape a woman. There were three reasons. She was not wearing what they perceived as appropriate clothes despite being perfectly acceptable in mainstream Australia. She was in public unaccompanied by a man. She spoke to them.
All these attitudes are based on Koranic teaching and an archaic sense of morality. Clearly the Koran gives demonstrably wrong advice involving the discriminatory attitudes toward women.
There are many other ways where women's rights are restricted without justification through a flawed concept that a woman aught to be treated differently from a man (beyond giving them a fair go in sports).
For example the word of a woman is not considered equal to that of a man. Explain how this Koraninc teaching is justified and does not breach any sensible concept of equality between the sexes.
Islam is ignorant fascism and fascism has never produced a sustainable, morally healthy society. Basing morality on the musings of a ancient Arab man deluded enough to think he was hearing God is clearly profoundly ridiculous.

Islam provides the justification through the teaching of the Koran. It is a vulnerability particularly of the Abrahamic faiths because these philosophies are all based on evangelical attitudes that promote punishment for any who suggests that one might transgress the rules. The Bible has been used in the same way many times.
Areligious morality allows no such justification and has developed into a much more sophisticated model than any of the religious texts claiming to be the last word on subjective thinking despite being thousands of years old.
As a global society we need to stop exalting these books. They do not hold the way forward for humanity.
