The Return Of The Tumbleweed Remover.
77 Answers
You seem to have been wandering in the desert for forty years, and only tumbleweed to break the monotony.
The trouble is that you all seem to broadly agree with each other, being a crowd of heathens who choose to live in denial of a higher power.
Maybe it is time for you to listen to the message in the gospels, and consider the great free offer that God makes to you all, the forgiveness of sin for eternity, and life after death in the presence of the Lord.
So, why not make a start and acknowledge the, "God of your understanding," that is, your personal perception of God, and rejection of the atheists, "faith," in science?

Hi Theland.
You probably won't believe this, but I have finally seen the light.
Gotta love cataract operations, eh..?
The offer you refer to is a) lacking any evidence that it even exists, b) if it does, it's not free and c) notwithstanding the myriad inconsistancies and downright preposterous claims for him, I wouldn't worship your god for anything; he's a tyrant.
How d'ya like them war drums?
Have you been reading Ray Comfort? Your evangelising sounds horribly like his inane Way of the Master crapola.

Dear old Theland. It's like being transported back to a previous age to see him back in his pulpit. Absence has taught him nothing, it seems; he is still floundering in the dark without realising there is the glorious light of reason outside his weird superstitions.
Still, would we have him any other way? Be honest, don't we need the Thelands of this world to demonstrate how rational the rest of us are?

Well now, 0n the question of faith, the Rev Tom Butler, bishop of Bath & Welles, (not one of my favourite people by the way), said recently, that scientists regard both dark matter and gravity as factual realities. However, they have never seen dark matter, and don't understand gravity. He went on to say, "... if that isn't faith, then I don't know what is." So, are you lot really so rational? Hmmm?

Alcoholcs Anonymous was a real eye opener, as was my suicide attempt, and my visit to see the psychiatrist! I have been in a dark and lonely place for months, and my losses are great, but it is enlightening also. Quite a journey through inner space, and a testing time for my faith.
But you have to laugh, don't you? Tears being the only alternative.
God is clearer to me now than ever before.
A prayer has been answered, but not in the way I expected.
So, yes, I have brought my sense of humour, although I misplaced it for a while.

Welcome baack Theland.
Its so interesting how you see yourself.
I see you as a strong individual who has managed to rise above 'problems' despite your faifth potentially holding you back!
If I'm being harsh its done nothing for you so far (a distant observation) and proves to me your own strength is what has gotten you through this. Don't apportion what you've come through as being down to faith. It belittles you and only serves to compound the reasons you might have chosen to drink in the first place!
does that make sense? - I can never tell when i start on a big speel!!!!!

To me the word "Faith" always implies the word "Blind" prefacing it. This is equally true of faith in religion, faith in science or negative faith, i.e faith that something doesn't exist such as in atheism.
My view of the universe is based on the evidence I see and a balance of probabilities. I am aware I could be wrong and I regularly reappraise my viewpoint to fit new experiences.
Nice to have you back Theland, however wrong you may be. :-)
