I JUST READ THAT BACK AND I SOUND NUTTY!!! I REALLY AM NOT HAHA XX
1. Is there really a god?

No.

> I mean i grew up believing the mary and joseph story, but is that all it is a story??

That's all it is.

> I mean if i believe in heaven surely I should believe in hell

Why?

> and if I believe in god I must believe in hell

Why?

> you cant believe in one and not the other

Why on earth not?

> [i dont wanna] I don't want to believe in the devil!!!

So don't - who's forcing you to...?

> 2. do ghosts really exist? have people really seen them??

Yes. Yes. What they actually are, of course, is not currently understood...

> 3. why do we dream?

To process information.

> 4. what is way beyond Pluto?

The rest of the universe.
You do not sound nutty to me my recommendation for you would be to take the ALPHA course and then you can make up your own mind on your questions you will be able to gain access through your local church
They will not try to brainwash you I am a practicing catholic and went to the alpha course to see how they operate because I believed they were trying to brainwash people its not the case
They were suprised towards the end when I revealed who I really was but was treated with dignity and respect even though I batted for the other side so to speak
Let me know how you get on ?

oh thanks mark, there is the first of many sarcastic answers i imagine!!! i did open myself up to it i suppose!!!!!
my view

1. no, so all the other stuff is inconsequential
2. dunno, but i doubt it. might be persuaded if they can prove it.
3. because our brains and subconscious are still awake and processing information whilst we are in slumber
4. lots more galaxy's and universe's than we can imagine

i recommend wonders of the solar system (bbc2) fascinating stuff and presented by a thoroughly nice, interesting and intelligent man.

well i knew the answer to the dream question, but sometimes i dream really stange things that i have even been thinking about, i dream about people i havent seen or heard from in years, but yeah i understand that,

the universe amazes me, i mean there could be another sun somewhere far far far away which means there could be another earth or similar and people like us!! lol weird weird weird,

i guess god is just what you make of it,

ghosts!!!! GOD KNOWS!!! hahahahahahahahaah
1/ No - well at least not in the Mary and Joseph and the little baby Jesus in the crib sense. I think that at the heart of all religions is the idea of an immortal soul without that God just becomes some sort of very powerful creating extra terrestrial. The idea of the Soul is imitimately connected with memory - without memory - any memory how can you be "you"? And we know what damage to the Brain can do to personality and memory.

2/ I doubt it same reasons as 1 - but I have no doubt that people really believe they have seen these things. That's not thesame thing. You have to ask yourself what you mean by really. What is your criteria for deciding whether something is real?

3/ Damn fine question - I've seen a number of theories none have been particularly convincing but we all seem to do so do so there must be a reason -perhaps if we could find someone who truely doesn't (as opposed to not ermembering dreaming) we might have a clue.

4/ The Oort Cloud, interstellar space, other stars and planets, intergalactic Space other galaxies, and all sorts of weird and wonderful exotica - It's bigger than you could possibly picture with stranger and more beautiful things than any TV program
> galaxy's and universe's

Rolls eyes in disbelief...
If you want to be smug about spelling I suggest you go and play in Arts and Literature
onlyme26, MarkRae was not being at all sarcastic. The answers he gave were straightforward and - apart from the first Yes in 2. - perfectly correct.

It would be interesting to know why he thinks, not that people have 'seen' ghosts, which is obvious, but why he thinks they exist.
markrae was being sarcastic, it is all markrae is capable of doing on this site.
1) Make your own mind up about this one, don't take others word for it but do think about their views and compare them to what you can see and feel around you. Don't just put your faith in a a book that claims to answer these questions as invariably it talk about things you have never seen or experienced.

2) Almost certainly not. People 'see' all sorts of things that are not there.

3) Difficult to know, it must be a product of evolution somewhere along the line but the 'purpose', if there truly is one is very subtle.

4) What Jake said.
Milliezoe's advice was the soundest. Try out an Alpha course and make up your own mind. No-one will force you to do anything you are not comfortable with. Kind regards from Cupid04.
> It would be interesting to know why he thinks, not that people have 'seen' ghosts,
> which is obvious, but why he thinks they exist.

People have definitely seen "ghosts". However, as I said, what these actually are is not currently understood. One theory has it that they are "imprints" stored in the physical material of buildings and are analogous to images stored on film.
1. Yes, We have dead ringer for Jesus walking around Brighton here..........seems like a thoroughly nice chap.:0)

2. Well, Scooby Doo seems to think so :0)

3. So we can count the sheep jumping over fences, otherwise they'd just be bored sheep :0(

4. Is it Donald Duck? :0)
1/ I believe in God sometimes I struggle with it but the world is such an ordered beautiful place for there not to be some sort of creator. Not necessarily the Mary and Joseph story but there could be some supreme being, some force. I am half Jewish half Catholic so I am confused at the best of times lol although I do believe in Christ. Believing in a God makes us happier people and if there isn't one then we won't know about it cause we will be dead anyway.

2/ Yes ghosts do exist and I have had experience of this. To me ghosts prove there must be some sort of spiritual afterlife.

3/ process information I should think but not too sure myself if i am honest.

4/ who knows?? another planet with life on i am quite open to there being other life forms etc etc they might not need oxygen to live on other planets he he.

well thanks for all your answers guys, its interesting to hear what other people think,

i guess there are some things in life we will never ever know......
god is what you make of it i guess, there is no harm in believing if it makes you happy, i mean santa makes kids very happy!

ghosts, heaven, afterlife... i guess the truth is in the eye of the beholder.

dreams are fun!!! or at least can be!!

im sure we will slowly find out more about whats out in space as the years go by!!

for now i will keep on wondering xx
Scooby Doo is the very epitome of rationalism, ackshirley - in every instance the supposed ghost turns out to be mundane.
1- Yes there is God and only one God. Jesus was his prophet and nothing more as were many more apart from him. Few people wouldn’t believe in God because they can’t see, touch, smell, taste or hear him. But then there are so many other things fit the same category one way or another but we do believe in them. Pain is one and air, X rays and so many other. Now instead of ALPHA course ONLY I would suggest you look into all of the religions and if possible there original teachings and then compare them.

2- Ghosts do exist and yet again only who see them believes and others refuse until they do so but then others do not believe those OTHERS and it goes on and on.

3- We dream because even that is a reminder that you are not what you think and believe you are. We believe in dream as reality as much as we believe in our life until someone or something brings our spirit back into this world. Spirit is as real as ghosts.

4- Beyond Pluto are other galaxies as others said. But what sort and how many? Perhaps this is another way God is trying to tell about our incompleteness.

“A little knowledge of science makes man an atheist, but an in-depth study of science makes him a believer in God”.

Francis Bacon (1561-1626)
I'll support Keyplus's first answer - look at all the religions, whio have different ways of describing their deity or deities, and also the darker side. Most religions do have a "devil" as well as figure(s) of worship so I don't think you can have one without the other - there is a baddy lurking to tempt us off the chosen path!
