Getting older in the after-life?

What are your thoughts on this please?

William Roache (the actor who plays Ken Barlow in Coronation Street) lost his daughter in 1984 to pneumonia. She was a baby .... eighteen months old. He believes that, many years on, this daughter is now grown-up and a nurse. He has been told this by a spiritualist.

I don't believe in the after-life ..... but for those that do - do you believe that your deceased loved ones get older, wherever they may be? Or will they stay forever at the age at which they died?

I don't get on with this sort of thing. If she's a nurse, does he think she's been reincarnated? I always believed that if there is an afterlife, it's spiritual and we are just there is spirit but relate to each other - the thought of having to take a job in an afterlife is a bit off-putting!

I have heard it said that there is no such thing as age in the hereafter, and all time is one. Sounds deep, I know.

I cannot imagine there is such a thing as age on the other side (if it exists).

It matters not a jot what an individual believes, if it gives comfort and doesn't impinge on real life or adversely affect the believer or those close to him.
I have seen ghosts but don't believe in the afterlife on this earth, so I don't understand what I have seen.
I like to think that the afterlife is spent in the prime of life.

It doesn't seem to make sense that babies will grow in the afterlife and become adults. What happens when they grow old? Do they die again ??

Both William and his wife were spiritualists and both saw their child after her death near her cot. William is still a spiritualist btw. Those in spirit will show theirselves as they wish.

Ttfn, that is a lovely and moving poem by Laurence Binyon, but he knew no better than you or I what happens in the afterlife.
If it gives you comfort to think that, that's fine.
I prefer to believe babies and children attain adulthood.

Well said hc and Butch. What possible harm can there be for anyone who wishes to believe? For all we know it may be the only thing between an individual and utter solitude.

What exactly makes someone think that the soul of a baby is a "baby soul".

What if there is no such thing as age, but karmic advancement?

I have a friend who is a passionate believer, and I know that she gains comfort from it, so I can see where Butch is coming from.

But as smurf says, do they go through old-age and die again?

I don't think a soul ages, but I do think any form the afterlife soul takes is fully developed.

Indeed so hc - if I could write such words I would not be sitting here typing this. (I also love John McCrae's In Flanders Fields and have a beautifully illuminated copy of it framed.) I fully support anything which gives the bereaved some comfort.

I would agree with you except I lived with one for over 20 years, doc. Only saw it during the day. No idea what it was, others saw it too, even though I never mentioned it.
