hes head of the catholic church, hes visiting britain, some people will be looking forward to seeing him in this country,what would you have him do, not visit ?has been lots of negative press about him recently..................is it pope bashing or catholic bashing ?.........................not all catholics are bad people. will i be going to see him......no.

To be the perfect pope, rising to heaven on a pillar of fire would go some way, not coming back again would probably do the job properly.

anneasquith - The Pope has been implicit in covering up wholesale abuse of children whithin the Catholic Church by priests. If Roy Whiting had a tour would you go and see him? By allowing the Pope to remain in place without at least protest, there is mute acceptance that as long as its linked to the church Peadophilia is acceptable.

Although I understand where you are coming from Dave....The Pope hasn't actually been accused of child sex abuse. So you can't really compare him to Roy Whiting...

Loads and loads of sex abuse was covered up and swept under the carpet years back. You didn't talk about such things...This is 2010..we've moved on and learnt that keeping quiet is not the way forward. But it was then...

Ummmm with respect, and I men it, I suggest that you look up Ratzingers "influence" in the cover up going back 30 years. Fry alludes to it in his talk when he says that Ratzinger threatened excumunication to people who spoke to the police.

Saying it went back further isn't a defence, its a condemnation of all who went before him.

No he never killed a child but what he did do, was insure that the misery and suffering of hundreds(1,000's?) of children was either covered up or was allowed to continue.

If he was not who is, but say the head of a social services department, you would spit on him.

The Vatican opposes stem cell research because the Pope believe a cell is a life, and must be treated with dignity. Tell that to the parents who KNOW their children will starve to death, horribly and painfully.

The Pope says ... "using a condom increases the risk of HIV". Is he a total loony? "No", says the catholic spokeswoman, "... he speaks with the voice of God, so he is infallible."

"Infallible"? He's a complete loony !!

The Vatican is rolling in money. Let them pay for the Pope's visits.

Society, it's because Roman Catholics believe the pope is God's representative on earth and as such is the next best thing to God - and therefore his word is infallible - apparently.

what happens to all those little popey sperm cells, if they all go to waste it must be a sin of the most heinous kind, just think of all the blessed young catholics that could be produced. I see a marketing opportunity here. £ 1 each a BARGAIN!
