The last seven years have not been without high points in my life, for example, real joy at having five grandchildren, looking at how my own childrens lives have developed etc etc.
However, there have been very many negatives over the same period, that have affected me deeply, and continue to do so.
I find that especially when I am at my lowest, I find real comfort in prayer to Jesus Christ, and I am always left with the feeling that I am not facing my problems alone.
I am not presenting this as any kind of evidence that the objective scientist demands as proof for the existence of God, but simply presenting my own experiences for your consideration.
My questions are; 1) Is there anybody else here who also prays? 2) Do you find comfort in your prayer as I do?
Other comments from ABers of all pursuasions are of course, as always, most welcome.

You keep coming back to Ken Bigley, doc, but he's not the only one - people were praying for that woman kidnapped in Afghanistan too, they thought they'd been answered until the grenade exploded. "Those who believe" might suggest that these people died (despite the prayers) because they were part of a Greater Plan, and had to go.
My view is that if people gain some inner strength from praying to who or whatever they direct their prayers, or from marshalling their thoughts while they do so, then it gives them some order in their lives.

errr "egocentric" ;-)
Agnostic would fit, doc? or just "self-sufficient"?
I know people who call themselves agnostics, who don't see the point, and feel that their destinies are in their own hands, and just hope to make the right decisions.
There doesn't have to be an ear listening to prayers. If praying provides some comfort it isn't doing any harm.

Just why do some people become so very indignant when others dare to criticise any aspect of religion? They don’t do it with politics or with any other subject that I can think of. Just religion. How very dare anyone disapprove, disagree - or indeed disparage?!!

I don't think so Wyz - just observant.
I don't mind disapprove or disagree but disparagement is a debating trick and not a tool
Woofgang, a debating trick? What an odd thing to say. Try as any of us may, it isn't possible to dictate terms of debate in an open forum that hopefully endorses freedom of speech. If I, or others, despair at the voluntary abandonment of human intellect to an illusion, why should we pretend otherwise? Because you are disgruntled? I think not.
Prayer is very important in our lives. Praying is not praying for our personal only, but hoping regarding different men and women as well. Prayer is not for the charge, nonetheless it is absolutely cost-free such as love that individuals must surrender great quantity for you to folks, and to the environment within being humble as well as skimp. Prayer is quite satisfying for you to Goodness. The additional most of us desire i am become more effective men and women every single day, also modest by means of modest.
