The former is a matter of civility on the site itself, and is the editor's responsibility, which he exercised. You ought to be free to hurl abuse at Cameron/Brown/insert name of choice without hurling abuse at other ABers who disagree with you.
huh, I attended one of those vigils and it wasn't at all like the Daily Mail makes it out to be

// Already done it ludwig - and as I said, interperetation is just that - it's not fact. //
Yes, and you left it open to that particular interpretation - as I said and the time, the point could have been better made, and people who aren't bigots shouldn't say things that look bigoted or prejudicial, because it confuses people.
I would add that you did feel the need to clarify the point at the time.
And I think I'm right in saying that I'm not imagining or interpreting that it was the sweeping generalisation that upset her - I'm sure she stated it that it was.
Please don't make me go back and look thorugh that thread - life's too short for that.

Yes, that would be great if the editor excercised that reponsibility consistently and objectively, but he didn't. What we had was the classic Left vs Right type debate going on, and the Ed couldn't help but pitch in on the left side (as he often does).
I suspect that if the same insult had flown the other way (not from andy, he wouldn't say it), but from Left to Right as it were, no action would have been forthcoming.
As many have pointed out, far worse names are called every day with impunity.
Ed - by the way you know when I said andy would make a good politician earlier, I realise that's a truly disgusting insult to fling at anyone, but I'm hoping you'll let that one slide.

I don't think there's any reason to suppose that, ludwig. As I said, the Ed was enforcing the rules, as he's paid to do, not playing politics. If he doesn't ban every offensive post on the site it's not because he somehow approves of 'leftist' insults, it's because he doesn't see them. They have to be brought to his attention by being reported; if not, unless he happens to spot it himself, nothing will happen. I think you're making the mistake of assuming he looks at every post on every thread every day. I'd bet a golden groat he doesn't do anything of the sort.
