I agree...Eostre is a pagan spring festival and should remain so....even the man nailed to a tree(or a cross) predates christianity somewhat the man god sacrificed to ensure the harvest

You might have to drill small pilot holes before nailing, the chocolate will be prone to cracking otherwise.

I think you have to let the Christians have this one - Christmas is definately pagan in origin and I know the name Easter comes from the pagan goddess but it's tied into passover not the equinox

I'm not disputing the similarities between Christian beliefs and many of the others knocking about at the time.

You cand see assiliation in the old testament too with Noah and Gilgamesh.

But Christianity pretty shamelessly stole the old Roman festival for Christmas - no justification for it just bang that's ours now!

Easter at least is tied in with the story of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem at Passover hence the irritating movability of Easter

If, according to your link, it is a sign of the resurrection to billions of christians as the boulder that covered jesus' body, surely we should be seeing boulder shaped eggs in the supermarket!

I think I was a lot happier when I believed in the tooth fairy and easter bunny :-(
