I had a phone call recently - "about your recent accident - we can help you to claim . . . " My response - " Do you seriously intend to sue a dead pheasant ?"
Someone had obviously passed on the details of an accident where my headlight had been badly broken by a wild bird. I paid for the repair myself. Do the repair people routinely send such information to claims companies ? I thought this behaviour had been outlawed ?

Had several of these calls even though I haven't had an accident. I think they just ring random numbers in the hope the recipient has had an accident.
They ring random telephone numbers. They refuse to tell you which accident (Data Protection Act) because they don't actually know anything. They hope you'll tell them about an accident you had and then offer to sue on your behalf. Just ignore them.
I also had one of these calls although I don't drive and don't own a car. They couldn't tell me the name of the person they wanted to speak to or when this alleged accident took place so I hung up.
Nothing to do with your clash with the pheasant - these calls go out to all and sundry regardless. Your repair people's integrity is intact.
