phone them up, just in case. I don't believe they've ever contacted me by email. But then they've never refunded me anything either.
Beat ya - mine was for £617 - if only.
I got the same but mine was in a letter -almost identical wording- and I actually got a refund a couple of weeks later
Mrs T just got a message on her phone, £500 worth of vouchers from Argos. Our Argos card is in my name :-/
Just in case anyone takes this for genuine! -

HMRC only informs you about tax refunds through the post or through your pay via your employer. All emails, text messages, or voicemail messages saying you have a tax refund are a scam. Do not click on any links in these messages, and forward them to HMRC 's phishing email address and phone number.
//Gareth Lloyd, head of digital security at HMRC, said: "HMRC never contacts customers who are due a tax refund via email - we always send a letter through the post. "If you receive an email claiming to be from HMRC which offers a tax rebate, please send it to [email protected] and then delete it permanently.//
You can forward the e-mail to [email protected]
Not to mention...if you are due a tax refund, they let you know then send it to you. You don't have to "claim" it by contacting them.
Nice try.....have another go!
If I had a £ for all such e-mails I'd be a very rich man ;-)

Bazile, PLEASE tell me you haven't clicked the link...
I have been contacted by HMRC by email, but only after I contacted them first.

That one of Baziles is a proper phishing scam though.
4 week old thread
Ohhhh so it is, thanks Mamya.
Apologies - didn't spot it was Natashacolek's first post. Obviously a troll...
