Just has a call from 07904275939, a recorded voice telling me my national insurance number has been compromised. Told to press a number before they started legal action. Anyone else had this one? I just hung up. Number not known at "Who called me". Bit creepy as the number is very similar to my own

Definitely phishing, have contacted UGOV. I've had several telling me I'm going to be arrested for tax evasion, this is a new one!
Apparently, my NiNo has been compromised on the Welsh Borders. Strangely specific....LoL
NiNo ?
(N)ational (I)nsurance No - number
Och ! ,.
Scam. We have had all sorts over Christmas. The Amazon order one, the Microsoft one, BT one and yesterday one about Amazon Prime account! OH nearly fell for it until I grabbed the phone off him!
I'm wondering how you all get these scam calls...very very rare - a couple (maybe) last year.
Recorded here but not much info:-

The scammers seem to be getting quite clever with 'spoofing' their number: I had a series of 'local' calls (same STD code as mine) which differed in the last 3 digits. They didn't leave a message when answerphone kicked in and the numbers didn't show up in 'who called me' sites, probably because the numbers used were also different to other potential victims.
We have a new home phone and new number that came free with are broadband. We only use the number for incoming calls from a handful of family members. We have'nt give the number out to anyone else. Yet we are getting loads of these recently. Maybe someone can find a way of working out the range of numbers used for each dialing code and maybe a list of numbers is then avaialble on the dark web? Or it could be that someone has hacked into Sky, maybe an employee has download'd them, and has all the numbers what theyve issued and given it to scammers
The other weird thing we've noticed is they allways call at the same time each day about 9 oclock everyday this week and last week, whether its about an Amazon payment they want to refund, traffic accident, Amazon prime, internet security breach, broadband slow, and there voices allways sound very similar
9am in the UK is 2pm in India
Bobinwales, the landline numbers given to new lines are often reused. You may not have given it out, but the previous user may have done.
In this technology advanced age there should be away of tracing these low life’s and administering appropriate financial punishment.
They are all from abroad and therefore out of the jurisdiction.
