These scams are worth being aware of. I once got caught booking a couple of nights for a Zürich hotel, when I arrived & showed my "booking number" it was false. I managed to reclaim it from my bank later, but it was all a bit distressing as the hotel was fully booked & it was late when I arrived, but they kindly got me a room in another hotel nearby.
