I was paying a new trader with a debit card and rightly expectd a message on the mobile with a code number

and got two! - this is a criminal scam, code no 1234 will secure the purchase for £65 - which I wanted

and also the same number 1234 will enable £330 to be transferred to Vanquis Bank which I didnt want

Fraud line RBS - obviously working from home.....very keen ( a la Post Office Horizon) to point out, that from my info..... I bore the loss.

PIN means at least three difft things according to the clerk, all of which wd be bad news for me.

Have you been visiting dodgy websites again?

PP, time to use that Cambridge education I'm lead to believe you have to better use.

Ark, I think that the golden haired lady dog in his life is the brains of the duo.

🤣... I hope so

Surely if it is for two separate transactions, you should receive two differing code numbers?

Question Author

er - you heard right - ear waz removal for a friend - I can clear mine. I will spare the details

Miss X wasnt THAT interested... but, did say she would pass it on ( the message that is!)

and we checked the address - Piccadilly Manchester - not  Back Piccadilly you naughty boys !

Question Author

AND I now cant pay any bills at all as the card has been cancelled as they require the card in the doodah - the one that shows the numbers but doesnt have batteries.

which is a Jesus pain in the bitt

Naughty boys?  I'm a girl, you really have lost da plot!

😂

Hi, Me  -

Surely if it is for two separate transactions, you should receive two differing code numbers?

"If you do 1234 - you will pay £65 and below it - if you do 1234 you will transfer...."

Clearly a hack - but I did wonder if it were RBS or miss X

SO I rang RBS and got a heavily accented hello-girl ( the one who told me it didnt matter : the losses were mine) and finally ( having told  me it was all down to me anyway) we changed the cards

Bread and  water this week end I think

Was the ear wax removal site a fake then?

If it's a local reputable company have you reported the issue to them or to the police?

This is why I don’t do banking on a mobile phone; it’s all too easy to scan a dodgy QR code, or be misdirected to a bogus site and have your account emptied.

she said the losses were yours? Well the £65 wasn't a loss as it's what you expected.

I find it hard to see the bak using the same authorisation code to cover two payments. If they were both on the same transaction I can't see why you approved it .

Question Author

Thinl post office

if you buy X for £65 and dont get X ( actually it is a service on Monday so is to be detemined) then it is not aloss

and by plugging in 1234 ( I didnt by the way) - I would authorise a payment of £330 to vanquis ( it is a bank by the way) and THAT isnt a loss either

You should be working on an RBS switchboard ! they need you

Question Author

If it's a local reputable company

I am a first timer for that company and it is Piccadilly manchester - but the way they laughed at the word Fraud and rip off (" oh hahahahahah funny day really funny !) - My first reaction would be - you had better give me details....

Question Author

There is so much doubt about this.... the transcipt is

WARNING if someone has asked for this code they are a criminal. Code 387594 confirms a purchase on your card of 65.0 GBP to SQ* I love my ears Ltd.

WARNING if someone has asked for this code they are a criminal. Code 387594 confirms a purchase on your card of 330.0 GBP to Vanquisbank

-  - - so I didnt plug the code in and £65 was taken only.

Note the three figure security code on your card is a PIN

so I had ALOT of " but you have geeven dees peen to de parson."

NO I have nt. I have given the security number

dat eez dee peen

The PIN is a four figure number and I havent given that

dat eez anodda peen

I'm not surprised they weren't helpful if you communicated with RBS in the way you have on this thread.

Question Author

and the third PIN was  387594

and so I cd see the answer "yes I have givenmy PIN" would be deemed no matter what I  said, and the loss wd be mine.

'm not surprised they weren't helpful if you communicated with RBS in the way you have on this thread.

so I shd have said - "yes yes I am lying down likea piece of carpet, Ihave given all three pins, thank you thank you!"

erm OK but I dont think I wd have got more  money.

but you know, I will try it one day and report

Question Author

altho see above there has been widespread disbelief that one code number cd be applied to two transactions

when I described such to my sister in law, she showed no surprise at all, and added, yes I know....

( shades of Diddy - he of the tax charge and doddy ash - I havent spoken to my ( X - mother in law / sister in law) by telephone for a year: I didnt like to interrupt her)

Question Author

when this happens ( the word on the street) cancel your cards immediately ( which was NOT offered to me)

all the PIN-la-la ( dollink you 'ave three peens) was to limit their own liability ( alone)   Think post office
