Anyway Ferdinand is so injury prone these days so it makes sense to have a skipper who is available for every game

looking at the squad thats been named captaincy should be given to scotty parker, 100% every game and leads by example, in my eyes he's better than lamps and gerro and is never getting bad publicity from the papers so is a model pro for the youngsters to look upto, the message terry sends to kids is go shag whoever ya wish and fcuk the consequences and similar with gerro and rio.
if capello was going to look at giving it back to terry then he should have never took it off him.

craft, i'm sure that was stamford bridge he was doing the deals to show people round, don't think that had anything to do with national team

No he was flogging his box at Wembley off to punters at 4k a throw, and it clearly stated in his contract that he was not allowed to do this.

i weren't 100% sure what he'd done by i thought he was selling tours at stamford bridge and was meeting people at the training complex and showing them the excluded zones beyond where the normal tours go.

Surely the most important fact is that he was also being unfaithful to his own WAG.

He's a disloyal rat. I wouldn't play for a team with him as captain. Okay, I don't actually play football, so it's not really an issue. But you know what I mean.

jj, all you're players are supposed to look upto and respect the captain has he should set an example. imagine what a night out with the england camp is like with players like terry as captain, you get rooney with the grannies etc... then you have stevie g fighting and getting released on bail on a night out, and then you have scott parker (west ham club captain) rallys the team and even at 3-0 down he gets the troops together and goes to get back in the game, he leads by example and never see a bad word said about him (only praise), this is the sort of captain you want at your club or at national level. maybe not a household name like terry and co but you get 110% out of parker like you do out of terry (west ham are actually lost without him)

jj, you're right they are overpaid and 99% of them are a bunch a pansies, every game you see someone rolling over in agony as someone has just brushed them on the way past, if i was to play against these i'd kick lumps out of em for the fun of it, also if i was a ref and someone was writhing in agony only to get up and run seconds after i'd book them for simulating injury. they'd have to think twice then.

on a better note a local player that plays for burton darren moore (ex west brom , derby , bradford) has just won an award for all the charity work he does and work with youth in the community while he still plays at club level, he has probably give 1/2 of his wages from the game away to charity over the years and even give a family money who's house had been robbed while watching the game. should all players look upto him as an example of how they should behave.

steve, cheers for agreement on scotty parker being captain. he is better than gerro and lampard put together, don't need to play a barry as parker helps out there to. parker will pull players away from the ref to protect the players rather than lead the argument with the ref.
bet you he warms the bench cus flabio crapello will play the usual suspects and i'll prob have to wait till the ghana match to see jarvis in action

Some of those players who roll around as if they've been poleaxed, I'd like to get a few of them on a Lacrosse field. Within five minutes, the whole team would by lying on the ground, in tears, LOL.

Parker may be a good leader but to be England skipper he would also need to be a regular in the starting XI - which Parker is not likely to be

None of them seem to realise that part of a captain's job is to show leadership, act as a role model and set a good example. No good mentioning Caesar's wife. They would be queueing up to get her phone number. Do they not realise inwhat contempt they are held by quite a few female fans? Or are they so self-centred (and rich) that the fans do not matter?
